Noise cancelling headphones over earplugs ought to bring the noise down so much that there is a good chance that you will be ok.

So with the noise cancelling mode on you only hear a very soft hiss and this only in a quiet room. Is this what you were hearing? My headphones also have a "masking" feature, a weird white/pink/rainbow noise :) that I've never used because I found it to be very annoying.

I haven’t found any. I know that noise cancelling headphones and earbuds do the job and they make your voice not sound loud in your head but they have a slight’ pressure’ sensation.

Have you tried wearing earplugs and noise cancelling headphones? Bose 25 headphones can really make a difference, as far as car noise is concerned.

I am sorry you are going through this. If you have noise cancelling headphones take them with you. If they say they have them still take your own. Both enclosed and open MRI’s are extremely loud.
