I was on Prozac when I got tinnitus. I was taking for OCD. Wish there was something better for OCD then SSRIs in the medication realm. Had good luck with Ketamine but too expansive.

It's still possible that your tinnitus could ease once you've reduced or stopped taking Prozac. And if you do need to take an AD, perhaps another type may be gentler on the ears.

I took Prozac 80mg for nearly 10 years and never had my ears ring. I also have taken Luvox, Paxil, and Zoloft. Never experienced any tinnitus with these. Same with Risperdal.

Just a thought, why don't you try the liquid Prozac? It may be easier to withdraw from dosage wise if you do decide to withdraw from this drug.

@Ctw -- Prozac is known to be ototoxic, so it seems likely it's causing your tinnitus to spike. It's done so with many others on this forum. Personally, I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole. You may want to reconsider taking it. You may also want to check out a post on some of the history of...

It came on when I had a combination of Prozac and Propranolol. The dose of Prozac was upped from 20 mg to 60 mg in one go without going to 40 mg first. Prozac may not be the right antidepressant for you. Give it a little more time, and see how it goes. Most people have to try a few different types, before sticking with one that works.

T or worsening of T can be side effects of both prozac and buspar. That does not mean they are the culprit, but it is a possibility.

But what about Lexapro? Helped you a bit? Spiked your tinnitus?
