only if you would do it (almost every) day for a long period of time aka abusing alcohol. alcohol is then known to be ototoxic but certainly not from drinking from time to time even if it's heavy drinking I would say.
...handy to switch on if needed.
b) Certain foods and drinks can cause temporary tinnitus spikes for some people. For instance, coffee and alcohol are common triggers. In my case, it's salicylates—found in herbs like basil, thyme, rosemary, and even aspirin. Imagine the tragedy of not being...
Hey Julia,
for some people it seems that alcohol can spike, others experience the opposite.
for me sugar, salt and msg spike my t as rocket.
havent try alcohol... but i will.
some people have had relief drinking wine.
maybe you should try it!
OK. So tinnitus was new to me til I had a week long ear ringing after a concert last year. October 10th is when I had relief. It has basically been non existent since then, only noticeable in a silent room when I am actually trying to hear it. Yesterday all day and til about 9 at night, I...
Alcohol is great in that it gives you the ability to not give a damn about your tinnitus (and it generally makes the world seem like less of a crappy place). The only problem is when you use it regularly to cope. Alcohol never had an effect on my tinnitus at all, even after heavy drinking. I...
I got my tinnitus about 2 weeks ago when I mixed music for long hours for 3 days and apparently I had it slightly too loud.
Now. Give rest to your ears! No headphones in a month. No caffeine and alcohol. You will lose some sleep because of tinnitus. Alcohol and caffeine do not help.
I'll post on the Naltrexone thread after I see a doc. Wine has always taken the edge off my tinnitus, so I already know what I'm going to tell my doctor. "I've used alcohol to self-medicate my tinnitus, but I've quit now but still craving it."
In my experience with T alcohol will help for s few hours to sleep but then POW intense suffering. There are things that make my T off the charts,,,,alcohol.....stress/anxiety.....salt......caffeine/coffee......loud/busy/noisy places..just to name a few
Coffee and alcohol do not increase my t, I drink my fair share of coffee and alcohol pretty much every day. No change.
Alcohol actually reduces the t for me.
I now know why I like drinking alcohol, it keeps me going, I don't enjoy life at all, I sometimes wish I were dead, but I would never have to guts to kill myself, so the alcohol makes life a little more bearable.
Cheers!
I'm fighting staphylococcus.
Yesterday I drank half a liter of kvass (this is a drink in Eastern Europe with a low alcohol content of 1.2%, not considered alcoholic). Then I thought about the possible risks of concurrent intake of alcohol and doxycycline.
Tell me, did you drink a little...
I'm not sure reactive is the right term for mine. It reacts to different things (stress, sleep, alcohol, marijuana) but not to specific sounds. I have multiple tones that change from day to day. Just had to get used to that variability. There's a range of possibility, at first that part scared...
I remember seeing your previous post that it also helped with your hyperacusis.
When you stopped taking Trobalt, did the hyperacusis return to its previous level or stayed at the reduced level?
I wonder what Kv potassium channel is related to hyperacusis/noxacusis. I’m hoping it’s related to...
...some serious drinkers who died young due to the bottle and I didn’t mean to imply that I was trying to drink myself to death. I do find that alcohol helps me to cope but in all actuality I seldom drink more than 3 drinks/day because more than that really messes up my sleep cycle and leaves...
@Telis, take what you need to take going through your day.
I don't know if my ADs do anything for me. But I don't like alcohol.
If I could, I would take a benzo every day. Because a high dosage (like for example a valium infusion) eliminates my T for a while. If I would know alcohol (as Dan...
I find that I don’t hear my tinnitus as much when I drink alcohol. That’s not to suggest I’m drinking every night but I just noticed it doesn’t seem to worsen it. I have very little caffeine. I drink decaf tea. My only addiction is a tiny tiny bottle of Coke Zero. I’m not really sure it does...
...with cerebral angiograms, but first the MR.
The last couple of nights were fairly good, I could sleep without valerian. I do drink a fair amount of wine, though. Alcohol takes my mind off pulsatile tinnitus, normal tinnitus, coronavirus, economic crisis. Alcohol is a good friend of mine.
A few alcoholic drinks and my tinnitus is gone. But as soon as the affect of the alcohol wears of its back. You can see how people with T can easily become addicted to alcohol. I do like a drink now and then but in moderation.
erik
in re reading the article y0u linked to, about mri s, and the limbic system and then thinking about Louise's thread on alcohol sets me to thinking about connections...could alcohol use, especially abuse, be a significant risk factor for tinnitus...my guess is yes
because if alcohol...
Last night I was sitting next to one at a new years party who blew in a party horn or noisemaker. How loud are these? I couldn't feel how loud it was because of the alcohol but I have a spike today, it could be the alcohol as well.
Alcohol relieves tinnitus for abit. At least for me.
You should never go cold turkey with a severe addiction to alcohol. It can be deadly. Instead you should have slowly tampered off.
Drinking alcohol while on benzos increases your risk of tolerance and given that benzos are already highly addictive I would highly suggest abstaining from drinking.
Alcohol may cause a spike but it last only until the body gets rid of it. Wouldn't take so long if it was alcohol only. People who have t and expose themselves to such noise play with fire and have to expect permanent damage. As simple as that.
Hi,
I have bilateral 24/7 tinnitus. The hearing test I took one month after my acoustic trauma—spending two hours at a bar with loud music, the worst mistake of my 27-year-old life so far—looks very similar to your second one. Everything falls within what an ENT would consider the “normal...
nah, compared to some really specific receptor-target drug, alcohol has systemic effects. Basically there is no part of the body or nervous system which is not impacted in some way by alcohol, which makes it difficult to study.
edit: I do what I can, though. I research the effect of alcohol on...
The only thing I can think about is it might have been that I was drinking alcohol ( a few beers) a few nights between the loud impact and when it started, including the night before, so myabe my ear was a bit altered and the alcohol didn't help anything.
...tinnitus worse."
On Tinnitus Talk alone there are reports of spikes being caused by:
3 glasses of Fanta
caffeine
a glass of cold water
alcohol (I thought alcohol did some good things for GABA production?)
I'm really doing the same thing though: I'm connecting my good day with the...
Mick - I am also scared of noise now !
But I really think for you it could be drinking alcohol that's causing it .
Perhaps try over the counter sleeping meds and skip alcohol for one week ?otc Benadryl 50 mg will knock you out ..try n see how it goes ..
I think that alcohol thins the blood , maybe thats why ?
IN fact , alcohol and sitting in a jacuzzi for an hour are the only two things that have a positive effect on my T.
I should just sit in the hot tub all day with a beer and i am good.
DebinAudtralia--you said something I totally get. Alcohol can quickly mute tinnitus. Long story, but I totally understand the gaba receptors and especially what benzos do to them--and then when one tries to withdraw, death is pretty likely. I don't like to use alcohol for a tinnitus, but...
I know this is an old thread but really really hoping this wouldn't mean that those of use treating on benzos would need to go off for 6 months prior to treating with Susan's device if it makes it to market.
@coffee_girl
lol. I figure I'll treat it like alcohol, for me. Go on a date? Breakfast with friends? I'll have a cup or glass. But no more drinking coffee / alcohol everyday. If it was just my T that was affected, I'd probably continue drinking. But the difference between my anxiety levels on...
lol are you sure that you don't fall into a depression? alcohol is not a solution for problems... it makes it all worse. i hope you have fun at parties but you should not overdo..
Alcohol is a central nervous systom suppressant, so one would feel a lessening of the tinnitus (it comes back strong as ever later of course).
Ear "fullness" is classic tinnitus.
The neck, shoulder, everything connects to the brain. So yes, that could amp it up, hopefully temporarily...
...I'm getting.
I can't find anything conclusive on whether or not capsules versus tea versus tinctures are better for absorption, so I'll be taking a guess here. This bottle also has glycerite instead of alcohol.
I'm hoping to expect some sort of benefit from it. CBD oil is way too expensive...
