I am not a doctor. It seems it varies. Some people take them for a while, then wean off. Some take them for years, if not "forever". Highly individual.

Consider taking St John's Wort for your anxiety. It is herbal and is a mild antidepressant and wont make tinnitus worse. It will help calm you.

Good. Anti-anxiety meds are treatment for anxiety, not for tinnitus. You clearly had acoustic trauma. And even if you were anxious, they have a lot of possible side effects. Including tinnitus. I am glad you refused them.
