Everyone is going to hate how screwed they are if they have a medical emergency.

Two major impacts are going to hit the healthcare system that will affect everyone when they have a life-threatening illness.

First, many hospitals that rely on Medicaid dollars are likely to close.

The second most nursing homes rely on Medicaid dollars for their long-term residents. They will be closing.

Now the hospitals that survive are going to be hit with a double whammy of an increase in uninsured patients that need to be treated & stabilized before discharge under EMTALA as well as being inundated with all the residents of closed nursing homes which won't be able to be discharged because they now don't have a payer source for a new nursing home. For those who qualify for a disability waiver under what's left of Medicaid, it won't matter because there will not be enough nursing home beds available due to closures. They will sit in the hospital because they are unsafe to be discharged to home & have nowhere else to go.

This delay in discharge will result in beds being taken away from people in the ER. The people in the ER waiting for a bed upstairs will slow the triage of patients in the waiting room. What that means for the general public is longer wait times in the ER, which, when we are talking about a heart attack or stroke, that extra wait time will result in permanent disability or death.

Yep, people are going to hate losing their lives, but it's all part of the plan.

Is there a way to block this thread so that I no longer see it anywhere on the site? It is triggering, and I already left this site once because of it. I do not want to leave again, because I really need genuine support for tinnitus and noxacusis.

Trump's answer to a reporter's question today about his '90 deals in 90 days' promise he made in April.
"Oh, we've spoken to everybody. We know every. It's all done. I told you. I told you we'll make some deals, but for the most part we're gonna send a letter. We're gonna say, 'Welcome to the United States. If you'd like to participate in the greatest, most successful country ever.' I mean, we're doing better than ever. We have. I don't think. And you're gonna see these numbers soon. We've never had numbers like this. We've never had investment like this. Uh, we have more than 90. We're gonna have much more than 90. But most of those are gonna be sent a letter. This is exactly what I said. Now, we've made a deal with United Kingdom. We've made a deal with China. We've made a deal. We're close to making a deal with India. Others, we've met with, and we don't think we're gonna be able to make a deal. So, we just send them a letter. 'Do you wanna, do you wanna play ball? This is what you have to pay.' So, we're, as far as I'm concerned, we're done. We're sending out letters to various countries, telling them how much tariffs they have to pay. Some will maybe adjust a little bit depending if they have a, you know, cause. We're not gonna be unfair about it. And actually, it's a small fraction compared to what we should be getting. We should be. We could be asking for much more. But for the sake of relationships that we've had with a lot of really good countries, we're doing the way I do it. But we could be getting a lot more. We could ask for a lot more than what we're asking for."
TRANSLATION: We got ZERO DEALS, but I will continue to lie about it until it becomes a reality.

Nothing like sending letters and calling them deals, and then saying the deadline is not firm. President Deals wins!

The Trump administration is doing fine. The markets are coming back, and some have reached all-time highs. The unemployment rate is low, at 4.1%.

ICE is working very hard to catch and deport many more criminal illegal immigrants. There is nothing wrong with immigration, but not the kind that Joe Biden permitted.

There were presidents that I voted for, and later regretted doing so. Trump is not among them, and hopefully, this will not change.

He can't even give a compliment without revealing his ignorance and prejudice. But hey, I guess that's exactly what you love and relate to. Keep them coming!
Trump and his cabinet members are doing fine. They are a common-sense group of very smart people. I'm afraid the only way you're going to rid yourself of TDS is possibly shock therapy. I wish you well, my gay friend from Norway.

@Luman loves this dichotomy. Only the USA and China have larger military budgets than ICE does now, thanks to Trump's BBB.

Fascism 101: Bread and circuses for the people.
Bread and imaginary threats — they amount to the same thing.

Just curious: Is it possible to die in the United States because one cannot afford medical care?

I would laugh at your posts if you were not serious. You live in a country that surrendered to Nazi Germany, just two months after being invaded.

My father and his brothers, along with millions of other American men, fought in Europe during WWII. Their uncle, who was my grand-uncle, was a member of the U.S. 66th Armored Regiment, AKA "Hell on Wheels", and was killed in the Netherlands in October 1945, when his tank was blown up. His remains were not found, and his name is on the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.

Don't lay that "Fascism 101" crap on me.

You keep bringing that up. What's your point?

OK, so he was a "sucker" and a "loser" then? Sounds familiar?
Don't lay that "Fascism 101" crap on me.
I would never do that!

Many people don't realize they have Medicaid as their insurance until they receive a large, unexpected bill. Need them tax cuts for the Trump buddies.

Ah yes, the classic: You know nothing about me, but you are so polarized that you lump me in with anyone that I defend. Not that it's any of your business, but I am registered unaffiliated and consider myself a deficit hawk who also considers the national debt the primary concern of the United States.

Joe Biden was running 2 trillion dollar deficits per annum, and not a peep was being said about it by Democrats. Yes, both parties have driven us to the brink of fiscal ruin. That said, the Trump tax cuts actually ended up EXCEEDED projecting revenues scored by the CBO (Definition = largely paid for themselves). Most of the debt related to his first term were existing deficits (which were gradually coming down under Obama) and COVID emergency spending. If you scored the increased revenues that came in at the end and after his term, the tax cuts did not impact that deficit all that much.

Unchecked military spending? Our national debt interest has eclipsed military spending, and again, where are the Democrats who constantly fail to even broach the topic?

Tax cuts for the "wealthy" are a cop-out, cliche term. Trump's initial tax cuts included doubling the standard deduction and child tax credit. The fact is, the "wealthy" pay most of the taxes, so any cut at all for them ends up being quite large in nominal terms. Those on the other side never fail to omit the cuts for the middle class.

This is my one response: I don't engage in back-and-forths with people who haven't demonstrated intellectual honesty; it's a waste of my time.
How are you feeling now? I assume you're not happy with the added deficit created by the BBB.

IMO THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST USELESS THREAD ON THIS ENTIRE SITE. HANDS DOWN. :notworthy:
There are a lot of groups on Facebook where you're not allowed to talk about what's happening in the world. But you can complain as much as you want and still get plenty of hug emojis!

In those spaces, the focus is all on you—not on shit like this!
All the time spent arguing back and forth here, including some of mine, could have been used in a more productive way to help find a solution to our situation.
How's the rest of the forum doing? Is anything promising expected to come out in the next five to ten years?

I think that over the next 10 years, we're only likely to see two promising treatments: the Susan Shore device and electrical stimulation of the inner ear, like Dr. Djalilian's device, which I think is the most promising.

I'm optimistic that with advances in AI and quantum computing, the pace of research and development will speed up. In the meantime, I'd love to see more funding for this underfunded area of health from both private and public sources. That's where I think we could be spending our time productively.

The CBO underestimated future revenues from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act by $1.5 trillion. They also use static scoring, so by default they claim that extending the tax cuts will increase the deficit. But that's based on mathematical assumptions that lean toward favoring spending increases, which, if kept at baseline levels, don't officially count as increasing the deficit.

Time will tell. Personally, I'd have liked to see some tax increases on the very wealthiest. Although it's worth remembering that while the TCJA cut taxes for everyone, including the rich, it actually increased the rich's share of the overall tax burden, making the system more progressive.

Our fiscal issues are going to catch up with us soon if nothing changes. That reckoning will likely involve Social Security, Medicare, the military, or significant tax increases.

Trump's done a good job getting NATO to help share the costs of aid to Ukraine, so I'll give him credit for that.
