Interesting that you mention rum, @Kopesy. Relatively recently I became a whiskey drinker (scotch, bourbon, you name it). But I have been considering giving rum a try. Of course I have had my share of rum & cokes through the ages; but I expect that a fine rum would do well neat. Is Captain Morgan's your recommendation; or do you enjoy others more?

When we first met, my Lovely Bride of over 41 years, drank Chivas Regal and I was a Jack Daniels drinker. (Loath Jim Beam, that was the only Bourbon you could buy in bars in Berlin.) Now I don't drink and my Lovely Bride will occasionally have a glass of Merlot, and if she feels very adventuresome she will down a Rum and Coke.

I always drink neat, never been a fan of mixing with coke & whatever else there may be. Yeah Captain Morgans is a great one to start with, You have the standard (my fave) Dark & Spiced, give them all a try if you can. Lamb's Navy is also a nice rum. Tbh, I've yet to find a rum or whiskey I don't like ^_^

I cannot drink a lot of liquor, just a sip or two, due to IBS. A recent experimental change to a gluten free diet has also taken most beers off my diet. A couple gluten free beers I bought at the health food store last week weren't award winners, but gave me an introduction. The taste was fine for both.

      Montmartre French brandy.

And any decent Bordeaux, Claret, Shiraz, Malbec or Merlot. The latter 3 from Australia or California. Very easy drinking and affordable.

"2 buck chuck" from Trader Joe's, from what I've been told by my less finicky inebriate friends. It is a higher class of wine than say Thunderbird or Midnight Express or even Ripple.

Stella cidre has been my fav cider, Some of the crispin ones have been good. My issue is too many Ciders are toooooo sweet. Stella cidre (yes spelled cidre) isn't too sweet.

Titos Vodka is my go to for hard stuff, it's made in Austin Tx from corn and for $25 for a 1.5L it's friggin awesome.
Grape fruit and Vodka is my go to drink, sadly it's that time of year where I'm cutting calories so my intake of grapefruit and vokda has dropped a lot.

I also try to drink redwine often since it can help lower blood pressure and do other things, at least so people say...
Currently my fav wine is pepperwood grove pinot noir, it's about $8 a bottle and is very good for the price point.

Whiskey, Chivas Regal, but I haven't had any in over 20 years. Got introduced to it by a smooth-talking devil. :D

Wine, currently Moscato from Barefoot Cellars. Not expensive, but smooth and light. I started drinking it because someone on this forum mentioned that wine helps their tinnitus. It does seem to help calm my tinnitus a small bit when it's moderate, but when it's raging it makes no difference.

I don't drink very often, but I like this mild Malibu rum with Coke or Pepsi. malibu_banananew750__65054_1379450334_1280_1280.jpg

Jack Daniels is awfully strong isn't it? At least compared to Malibu.

I am not a Jack drinker, but it looks lovely in that picture, @Richard zurowski!

As I mentioned earlier on this thread, I basically am a wine drinker. And yes, it will calm down my tinnitus a bit (after one glass only. More than that and I risk a headache and worse tinnitus). But over the holidays in New Orleans, I was introduced to what is called a Pimm's Cup. It sure was tasty! And pretty! And relatively low alcohol content for a cocktail, although I don't imagine I'll be drinking it often in the future.
