I never thought I’d be back at a rave but here I am only two months after getting my tinnitus.

First month I wanted to die legit almost killed myself. Was crying myself to sleep hated my life... slowly I just started to ignore it... obviously when I go to bed I hear it a bunch but you just make sure you're so tired when it’s bed time that you fall asleep no matter what... during the day I barely think about it especially if I’m busy. I keep ear plugs on me where ever I go though just in case I find myself in a loud situation.

Now that I got my custom ear plugs though I went to a rave again and it was fine. I plan on just living my life normally like before I ever got it... obviously it’s affecting me slightly still but the future is looking bright again... you can get use to this... if I can you can... I’m a very sensitive anxiety-ridden person so I know if I can do it you can too...

Really you gotta just not focus on it. Get it out of your brain that it’s a bad sound and just learn to hear it as part of your new world.

You might wanna reconsider raves, at least for now. I’m all for picking up your regular life, but even with earplugs you can do a lot of additional damage, making things worse. Not saying you’ll never again be able to go to these things, but, not yet. If I were you.

      HI @Djstarkiss

I want to give you some advice and hope that you at least consider it because it may save you a lot of misery and heartache in the future. I am pleased to hear that your tinnitus has reduced and you are finding life much better.

Your cavalier approach to tinnitus will not last long if you continue to subject your ears and auditory system to loud music at these so called "Raves" that you attend. With respect, I don't think you have any idea what you are dealing with when it comes to tinnitus, especially "noise induced". If you continue on your current path then please keep in mind, that the tinnitus is likely to return with a ferocity that you will not believe is possible and that I promise you.

I am not saying you shouldn't go out and enjoy yourself, but do not put faith in earplugs or custom made types no matter how high-end they are. The truth is: if external sound is loud enough, it will pass through your head/skull and be transferred to your inner ear and irritate the cochlea and spike the tinnitus. This transference of sound is called bone conduction - so be careful!

You have got away lightly but you may not be so fortunate next time if you get a spike. Tinnitus is something that must be respected and not to be played around with or treated as insignificant because I assure you that it isn't. Whilst it true that most people do habituate to tinnitus with time, it's the getting there that can be most problematic. Stress, anxiety and depression frequently accompany those with intrusive and debilitating tinnitus. Therefore, I advise you to change your policy and attitude, otherwise you might become another in a long list of people, that come to know tinnitus as their worst nightmare.

      I wish you well.
      Michael

I don't want to be rude but you are only going to make your pre-existing hearing loss and tinnitus possibly worse.

Please let your ears continue to heal!

Contrast, to what extent can our ears heal? Obviously dead cochlea can't regenerate, so ... how do our ears "heal"?

I can't believe anyone would want to go back to a rave after dealing with tinnitus for 2 months daily.

I would run for the hills, I've had spikes from restaurants.

Tinnitus is due to some neural networks not working correctly. The brain can rewire itself. To me, "ears healing" is another way of saying "the body healing itself."

Right, that's what I thought Contrast was referring to. I thought, given his strong stance on dead cochlea and synapse ribbbons, etc, it seemed odd he'd use this language (obviously he's turning into a normie :p ).

And I guess that's what products like Neuromod are trying to speed up.

OP - Know that people on this board have had horrible spikes from loud noises just walking through a mall (!), let alone a full on rave. I know you're a DJ, but there are other people on this board who have made the decision to not perform music in public.

If you will continue to play with fire, you should do your best to warn others you interact with.

I thought that your T has faded and that you decided to celebrate. But now I see that your T hasn't faded. You should be aware of the fact that T can get louder, more high pitched, and more intrusive. I've seen people comparing their T to a dentist's drill or to a train when its breaks are being slammed. Hopefully this won't happen to you. A lifetime of that would be a high price to pay, even if you end up having a lot of fun at that rave.

He probably knows about Neuromod and knows a cure is just around the corner. Just like Dr Wilden's LLLT, T-Gone, Tinnex, ACRN, Salvitum and Auris Medical AM-101.

Like 60% of my dj friends have tinnitus so I’ve found out ... I really didn’t know it was this common at raves ... but I’m not gonna let it ruin my life. I’ve been djing for 14 years there’s no turning back for me .. I feel like if I quit I sacrificed my ears for nothing .. I took a back pack full of foam ear plugs and gave them out .. I’m helping others and spreading awareness... maybe I’ll come back on here with regrets.. but for now I’m just conducting my life as I normally did .. im not letting a little hum in my drum control my life. If it gets worse fuck it.. I’ll just turn my fan up louder at night haha ... like yeah the sound of T is annoying but not as annoying as killing my passion and dreams. My ears are not gonna “heal” let’s be real .. I respect all of you and this forum and the advice ... I really do but I’m just sharing my approach and my experience with it and I decided I’m not gonna let it stop me from doing anything ever no matter how loud it is .. with in reason.. I took the loud exhaust off my car.. it broke my heart but I don’t regret it.. I’m not gonna be reckless... but I’m also not gonna give up my passion / profession :) I’m certainly not gonna cry about it for years! I’m just gonna do what I can to prevent it while still doing all the things I love ..

It is following the typical pattern of newbie T sufferers. They feel a little better, and then do too much, only to figure out this is a more significant problem to be respected.

Hope the new earplugs do the job, but this is risky behavior to most of us.

I honestly wish I’d done more research into ears before T. I always knew you could get T from loud noise exposure, but I didn’t know how little it needed and also the fact that we can’t regrow cochlea. Having had T temporarily a few hours after gigs, I always assumed you weren’t at risk unless you were exposed to excessive amounts of noise.

I do hope the rave was good.

Are you interested in hearing loss regeneration research, it's possible that if medicine like that existed you could take chances with your ears, but at the current moment of time it isn't.
