I like how a few pages haven’t been updated since the 90’s. That’s a pretty accurate metaphor for TRT.

 

He's too busy building a TRT empire with books, courses and multiple clinics. He has made a fortune with this idea, he has every financial incentive in the world to never question it.

 

His webpage loads correctly on web browsers from 1995-1997. The only element that does not load correctly is the pay pal extension.

 

Tbh his site gives off serious internet 1.0 vibes I kind of like it. It would be cool if he didn’t suck.

 

Mindboggling. The guy is a living anachronism. Imagine having a broken leg and being labelled as purposefully negative and weak if you struggle to walk on it. Wow smh this guy infuriates me

 

@Autumnly that's what TRT specialists will be telling their patients one by one. The irony is that on this very site many of the people who introduce themselves have been able to live with their tinnitus for years before it got worse and then things change. It kind of debunks their argument.

Like all the people with the Mesh implant who were told there was nothing wrong with it...we are effectively been denied our suffering.

That’s why I’m chuffed with the petition and the comments - which can’t be attributed to “forum users”.

This aspect is infuriating and when we contributed to the Nice guidelines we tried to address this.

I wonder if the Psychotherapy Community's insistence of the efficacy of TRT and CBT is their last
attempt to claim relevance.
Ever since the introduction of Prozac in 1987, their influence and feasibility has shrunken to the point where they are virtually marginalized with so many "methods" discredited.

Several years ago I read that less than 20% of all psychiatrists engage in talking therapy to any degree.
(I recall such TRT and CBTish "therapies" as Rational-Emotive, Reality, Client-Centered,
Encounter Group, et.al. which have almost no practitioners and are largely historical curiosities).
Before 1987, if you visited a psychiatrist for depression he automatically assumed that your attitude, outlook on life, previous experiences, etc. were the cause of such depression and these factors had to be improved. You were supposed to make a Herculean effort of will to suppress all depressive thoughts, sensations, etc. Clients received such "therapy" for years with no improvement. When the first antidepressant drugs were introduced, many clients had their depressive states lifted within weeks.

This began the demolition of the talking therapy model that was originally instituted by Freud.
In spite of all of the defenders and apologists for TRT and CBT, the one single, galling realization is that they have not yet been rendered as obsolete as the abovementioned example regarding depression only because no other treatment for tinnitus yet exists.

They resemble squatters who occupy vacant, abandoned buildings and then disappear when a new owner arrives.

The last vacant building for them to occupy is this treatmentless condition.

Every time I see something pushed onto the public that clearly doesn't work (like gmail updates), I imagine the people behind these ideas desperately trying to justify their jobs (don't judge, I have actually done this) and this seems like one of those times.

Psychiatrists/psychologists definitely have their place--especially children's psychologists when an empathetic adult is needed--but I do feel like there is a movement to push the idea that society need psyhcologists and psychobabble to help with every negative feeling we have. And what's worse is that insist they always can help.

Anyone else watch the Netflix Thai Cave boy rescue documentary? "And now we have Dr. So and so from Oxford to tell us how the boys might have been feeling..." They didn't even want us to speculate without the experts weighing in. That's more of a personal pet peeve that's barely relevant but thought I would share.

Anyway, if you looked at the entire field's history I would say they have done more harm than good with a few exceptions of genuine good.

it has more to do with trying to explain how perception, subjective experience and free will can rise from certain arrangement of matter. The materialist have already came to a conclusion that free will doesn't exist based on physics alone. They are okay with blackholes violating the laws of physics but if consciousness appears to do so as well they deem it problematic and just an illusion.

Some materialist argue free will does exist, but with a catch to compensate for the existence of fundamental space-time. That we have already choose all our desicions in a higher 4th dimensional plane of time. Meaning we are just watching the movie we made in real time, basically being helpless spectators to a movie we already debuted.

Or the materalist can argue Einstein was wrong and somehow free will is an emergent property within classical physics. Overall most of them believe consciousness and free will is an illusion.

 

Compare a panpychist argument to a christian fundamentalist

Christian " God created the Earth in 6 days, slept on the 7th and if you don't believe this you will burn in hell forever.

Panpychist: Aspects of consciousness relating to free will appear to be violating the laws of physics as we know them. Materalist are forced to deny the existence of free will to hold on to their assumptions that consciousness is not fundamental to the Universe. Materialist are okay when blackholes and small scale quantum phenomena violate classical physical laws but become defensive when consciousness does the same thing.

The panpychist were always onto something based on science but were largely ignored because they are rare and dozens of Youtube debates of Richard Dawkins and Aron Ra destroying creationist and religion will immediately convince a lay person to be a materalist without doing further homework. Also it seems to be enjoyable to make fun of organized religion as it gives one a sense of freedom and liberation. Yet atheist go down the rabbit hole of denying the existence of free will despite embracing "freedom from religion".

 

A panpychist will argue either time does not exist or time exist as entropy (the second law of therodynamics) within space-time. The panpychist will then argue that space time is emergent property from proto consciousness that prevades the Universe at a quantum fundemental level.

A panpychist who argues time exist will argue
ie a cheeseburger in empty space would age and rot significantly faster as opposed to the chesseburger being next to a giant earth like planet which it would age very slowly. Now if a human in a space suit was in empty space where time would go faster or a giant earth planet where time would go slower, we would physically age or die faster or slower. But our conscious free will would be only effected by the disruption of the biological aspects of our brains. Time travel (in a BTTF sense is impossible because no past or future exist only an eternal present. Time is just the classical entropy of a system decaying overtime. There is no such thing as a pre-determined future that already happened in a higher dimension. Only an eternal now that is prone to change.

If time exist the way Einstein imagined it as fundamental, there is no room for free will. I will give an example offering a hypothetical end of the Universe.

If you believe in time the way Einstein did, you believe the entire Universe from the Big Bang till two trillion years from now when black holes eat the entire thing and collapse it has already happened all at once. Time is just playing out the grand show frame by frame. We are just biochemical puppets dancing to the bouncing particles that make up the Universe with zero free will to change a pre-determined machine based Universe.


If space-time and matter is emergent from a quantum level then perhaps there is physical change to matter that can occur outside of time. Consciousness is an example of something above space-time effecting space time. The brain is a biological filter for consciousness to quantumly entangle in it, the brain does not create it.

 

Einstein believed all time is instantaneous and just appears linear?

I have no proof, but I believe in free will, though i think the illusion of it would feel the same to us, either way.

You can't die! Consciousness succeeds space-time and physical matter all together.
Quantum energy that gives you conscious agency does not end with biological death. You are stuck in an enscapable matrix of conscious existence. What you refer to as death is nothing more but a break in a stream, the biological vessel your consciousness is in is just a host. When the host dies quantum entanglement to another biological organism or vessel to host consciousness happens.

During the time of the big bang the Universe was one infinitely dense proto-particle. Quantum physicist (even the materalist ones) believe every particle in the Universe is connected in the quantum. Two particles at polar ends of the Universe can be united faster then the speed of light, (instantaneously) in the quantum. Your quantum soul will find a new biological vessel through this quantum entanglement. Without a quantum soul a biological vessel would have no free will and likely no conscious experience, you would just be in a coma state.

 

Assuming panpychism is real, An evil scientist builds a giant pain detecting robot the surface of a star. It is made of material that detects heat signals but is immuned to being destroyed.

The robotic pain detector is actually a hypothetical quantum computer that can harness consciousness via quantum entanglement and whatever else is needed . Now one, tens, hundreds, thousands, millions of souls end up incarnating inside the furnace for 10 billions of years until the star burns out. The evil scientist would have created a real hell.
