I'm also curious. I went to a restaurant with my daughter yesterday and it was only around 75 dB, but I was so anxious I had to order a drink just to calm down and have a good time.
That sounds like a quiet restaurant. In Spain most restaurants have become super loud, partly as a result of the new trends in "decoration", this is, all tiled, glass, ceramic surfaces, a lot of open space... which produces echo, sound getting amplified and bouncing everywhere...
We still got the wooden floors, plus 1 loudspeaker for every 3 tables on full blast so everyone shouts to their companions. Even before ear damage we told them to turn the fuck down. Ridiculous eating dinner at almost disco levels.
Yea I won't go into restaurants with loud music. 75 dB was average but it was louder when the bar tender would be shaking drinks and the girl sitting behind us randomly deciding to shout to her friends across her table. And of course the usual like dishes clanging when servers cleared tables.
In Spain the absolute worst are those (relatively) new coffee grinders that grind coffee grain every time someone wants a coffee. It's constant noise, it's super loud, and there's also the banging around with cups etc... all this every single time someone orders coffee.
I'm now about to drive from Suffolk to the Lakes for New Years. My partner and I are going to hike for New Years' Day. It looks beautiful and peaceful - just what my ears need.
I've never even heard of 'guava paste' before - it all sounds rather delicious. I'm a massive foodie, and love trying new things. I don't even know if it would be available in England. We did the same yesterday although we walked up behind our house, something we hadn't done since moving here. Our neighbours went along, they walk up behind the homes and up through the forest. So they wanted to show us something up at the top of the land. Behind a small rock wall there stood the remains of a potato rows, there are 3 more of them up there, all small, family plots I presume. Never made it to the Lake District because other half had to work late, but did make it to the Peak District.

As @Juan has already stated, restaurants, pubs, bars, etc are outrageously loud places here in Spain and I mean LOUD. You will find extra loudness here in the south where people concept of politeness and privacy is really non existent. People raise their voices in order to be heard over other people already risen voices. It's like a loudness contest, all the time. Only place you won't find this is at oriental restaurants. I ALWAYS carry foam earplugs with me, at least two pairs. I wear them depending on loudness but I usually am super vigilant about noises. Everything was particularly quiet and relaxed in that pub I uploaded the picture in. I enjoyed a lot. Company helped. Whiskey and edibles helped a lot as well.

The donut with fruity pebbles was out of this world.
