I miss my old life going out without any problems seeing world clearer hearing much better. I will never forgive that doctor and myself never ever.
Got hit with a sinus infection after not being sick for quite some time. Tinnitus wasn't that bad during the illness, but yesterday when all infection symptoms were gone, whoaaa did my tinnitus spike. Need reminded, is it normal for delay tinnitus spike following illness and it more than likely isn't the Amoxicillin? (Spike came on 3 days after starting amox.)
Sodlin
Agree with mind over matter. Its probably because the sinus and stuff like that keeps being swollen even tho the infection is gone which make the spike take 2-3 weeks to calm down AFTER ur feeling good again
ZFire
Sounds about right. My tinnitus got temporarily worse only after I started feeling better from a bad cold I got 2 months ago. Not only that, but my hearing in my left ear was muffled pretty badly. This took about 2 and half to fully resolve back to "normal"

Thank you for the reassurance! Unfortunately, my sinus infection was resistant to Amoxicillin, I developed worsening sinus pain and pressure by day 5-6 and it worsened with each day. I just started Cefuroxime last night since I cannot take Augmentin with my T. I don't think I've ever taken Cefuroxime before but I am hoping it is one that can fight this off. Now I have to decide to do a Medrol pack with it. It was recommended to help the severe inflammation in the sinuses. Thoughts? Experience?
Two weeks. Still spiking. :/
Sodlin
What was you exposed to that made u spike?
orenge01
@Sodlin I was exposed to like a construction reel while I was operating it for a short while. But yeah it's better now, been able to sleep better now too :)
Sodlin
Glad to hear the spike is going down! We must live our lives! I was at a kids birthday today. 3 hours of kids screaming and crying and 2 ballons pooping like 4-5 metres away from me (got this 20-25 DB earplugs which i can conversate with pretty easy) it really takes ALOT of energi to be able to get thru those days.
If my ocd goes away and i can go back in time i can heal myself september 25 2024

Have you seen any improvement at all in any way over the last year?
delta784
no mine got worse despite staying at home most of the time. its been 11 months
S
Hang in there. This stuff takes a long time to resolve. Some people don't see improvements until after 1 year. I'm 7 months in myself, going into month 8. This stuff rarely lasts forever. Are you getting any help for the OCD? That can exacerbate your symptoms as well.
School started today. We had an info event in the auditorium and clapping and cheering of people made my ears feel worse again.
I woke up at 5 am just now. My head really hurts and it's never been this loud before I'm so panicky :( I can't think of anything else but it's so so so loud and I feel like I'm back t square one. I'm so scared.
kingsfan
It's just loud because you woke up at a strange time
Being in extremely hot temperatures lowers my tinnitus by about half. I only realized this past summer and I'm sure it's related to either muscle tension or vasodilation. Something to remember
This condition is endlessly frustrating. Had the quietest day in almost 5 years yesterday for no apparent reason. Made me hopeful. Then today happened... and well. You all know I'm sure. Damn the luck.
MindOverMatter
Thats the relentless nature of t @BrOKeN_1 Embrace the good day you had, knowing that there will be good days coming again. Don't let the bad days dwell too much in your mind.
Tryn2BHopeful
Been there many times.
orenge01
Hey, at least you had a good day I guess. :/ This condition is so damn relentless, I'm going through a spike currently that doesnt want to fade away no matter how hard I seem to try, sleeping quality is decreased too. All we can do is keep our hopes up I guess.
My tinnitus is often lower when I'm exhausted. That's a good news because tinnitus is exhausting lol

Actually, my hyperacusis is almost completely gone today. It makes no sense, I'm running on 2h of sleep

I cannot bear with this anymore. I don't have guts to hurt myself but im tired my heart cannot take it anymore i never thought this will be my life but here we are please hug to your loved ones. If you have mild moderate tinnitus you can live, i never done loud things. mine is medication induced because of clueless ENT take care.

Are you managing to sleep at all, if not that something you can try to help first. Are you still taking clonazepam? Is it helping at all?
Had what I assumed was another noisy new tone last night. Spent a good few hours laying there trying to calm myself.

It was the fridge.
I am an idiot i couldn't do it and today new high pitch in right ear screams worst of the worst tone 15 khz i hope it goes away it happened many times always went away this time it feels different consistent high pitched why though? i dont even go outside i swear i never went to parties ever ever in my life If that high pitch doesnt go away im ruined im done
Hi delta784, just wondering how youre doing now. Im looking for some hope to get me through these bad times. My tinnitus is so extreme i just want to jump.off something high and die too. I know this would hurt my boyfriend and mum incredibly but i dont know what else to do. It is relentless and so painful. I don't see how anyone can habituate to this.
Have you tried Chatgbt? I have recently discovered Chatgbt and found that it was helpful and informative. If you lay out your tinnitus symptom history, including a description of the intestinal issues that you are encountering, it will provide you with detailed explanations and prognosis and a multi-step plan for addressing your issues.
Had a mental breakdown while talking with my parents on the phone.

Hey we never talked but I've read alot of your posts. You've always managed to get through it the past and I feel like you'll do the same now. We're all hoping the best for you.

@hey Thanks for your kind words, that meant a lot to me. I tell that to myself, but my situation is always getting worse. T related and HL related. I'm struggling to get through every single day. Maybe I can overcome this, but not very hopeful this time.
I may need to get treatment for HP :(
Do you have any wisdom on what is best to not worsen tinnitus?
UrbanBubblegum
First and foremost, make sure to request a sensitivity test for HP. Once you get the result, start googling. If you are not allergic like me, Doxy, Amoxcillin (fyi; HP will always remain sensitive to Amoxicillin), PPI such as Nexium, and they sometimes throw in Pepto Bismole. DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor. Just sharing my own, very costly, experience.

Thanks for reaching out. Wish you the best of luck!

Just had my first hyperacusis setback in 3 years. Damn!
I've seen it all before and I'm not scared anymore. Hopefully this time it'll be a short one.
Is the fact that my baseline was so good for so long, and that I withstood tons of bad noise insults with no setbacks, a good sign at all?
I think I'm going through a nasty setback right now, I guess for being kinda reckless. Dunno if its from noise exposure or something else, but T is really loud at the moment again :/
Talking with people makes my new ultra high pitched electric sound go wild. I can stand in silence without much problem, read a book and so on. A little chat or something on TV, and it worsens a lot a it´s highly noticeable. I don´t know how to handle this. It seems like the end.
Well on the "bright side" I'm no longer freaking out about my normal T because my PT is back/acting up and now I have to deal with that and look into whether I have another stenosis that needs surgery. I want to die.
