Guys, will I be successful even with T? I was working so hard to be a great programmer, but this T fucks up my relaxation and productivity.

I'm completely convinced that you can be equally successful and productive. If you just don't worsen things further, and let habituation do it's thing in the months and years ahead. I graduated with a bachelors in Software Engineering while navigating this, and have since written many thousand lines of code. The tinnitus don't get to me emotionally anymore (unless it spikes) and do not impact my concentration at all

My 2 cents though; what is the point of being "successful" in life? Why should we push and stress ourselves up the corporate ladders? I settle for simply being thankful for having a job, food on the table, loved ones around me, and roof over my head. Tinnitus, if anything, has taught me that. That's just my way of looking at it. Just relax and be kind to yourself.

@Stacken77 because success after hard work made me happy. I was happy that I'm a competent person, and it made sense for my existence. I was doing it because of myself and I miss it a lot

Buddy @GCS, please, leave the event in the past and look ahead. We'll just be miserable if we dwell on it. I think you'd develop tinnitus sooner or later, it just happened to be that day. I don't think emotions is our culprit, we simply didn't know, and didn't care. We didn't know how easy it can be to cause tinnitus, and we had no idea how hard it can be to live with. Now we know, but it's too late.

We can’t help that we like music loud, something is pleasing about it to the brain. But we need better public education/info on hearing damage

Yeah @GCS, they aren't accurate. I developed my tinnitus well within the guidelines. They're bullshit. Each ear is different, and I think already compromised ears have a greater tendency to get damaged. It can vary greatly from person to person.

@GCS I only know one guy who I think he is over 50 years old now (I'm 27), who told me after I told him. But I've always been involved in loud stuff (playing in rock/metal bands, and my solo project is electronic music - dubstep, trap etc) so lots more surely have some ringing, but don't say it

@Stacken77 @Steph1710 yesh thats what I mean, I turn the volume so I can hear it over muffs or plugs. If I take them
Off the sound isn’t overly loud but I guess bad for someone with noise induced T. Just don’t know if it’s harmful over time

@Wrfortiscue depends on how fast you drive;)
I would say a total volume in the car about max 85DB with muffs is far better than a kid screaming without muffs.
50 miles is around 65-67db. If you go faster remember music is jumpy and you’re inside a small enclosed space.

I think it’s safer to drive with muffs and some music on top, rather than drive without muffs and no music.. So if it contributes to motivate muffs I’d say enjoy some music if you can. Ear plugs never been my friend..
