My Hearing Has Slightly Improved Since 2019

I’ve had four good days this week, and now I’m having a slightly worse one. Maybe I stressed my ears too much during the week. I’ve...

7 Weeks of Tinnitus After a Loud Concert, Hoping for a Good Outcome

...2 days after my last update, it looks like I’ve woken up with a spike. Ugh. The only thing unusual I did yesterday was have a glass of wine. Many people report that alcohol helps their tinnitus (at least temporarily) but I’m going to cut all alcohol for a few months and see how that goes.

    My Hyperacusis Recovery Story

@Nick47, I am only loosely referring to nicotine and alcohol. I noticed that vaping and smoking cigarettes seemed to agitate my hyperacusis. This was a major reason I stopped vaping or smoking. Additionally, alcohol gives the illusion of a numbing effect only to potentially give you a setback if...

    Alcohol Quiets Down My Tinnitus

Too much alcohol results in tinnitus with a hangover - not good. Just enough - a pleasant feeling of relaxation which reduces perception of tinnitus, often a good sleep which is refreshing in itself. Alcohol in the right doses is definitely a boon.

    Alcohol Quiets Down My Tinnitus

    Alcohol Quiets Down My Tinnitus

I’ve been avoiding alcohol for fear that would increase my tinnitus based on what I have read and heard anecdotally, as I know for many it can cause spikes. I have found that in fact, more often than not, drinking alcohol actually quiets my tinnitus. Does anybody that phenomenon? I’m not a...

    Alcohol Quiets Down My Tinnitus

For me alcohol tones my T down a shade...or rather...getting a slight buzz makes me completely not focus on my T...I care less about it. But it generally doesn't turn my T down to zero. Which Is Safer? A Few Drinks a Day or Taking ADs, Benzos or Other Mind-Altering Chemicals?

6 drinks is probably a week's worth of alcohol, or should be. The bottom line is that alcohol in any quantity is neurotoxic and carcinogenic, and there's pretty good data showing a linear relationship between various cancers, and alcohol consumption. Meaning, this effect does not disappear when...

Everything went well, until last night

I always find my T is much worse the day after drinking alcohol. It has always reduced back to my normal level though. Why Does Alcohol Seem to Reduce the Severity of My Tinnitus? Coincidence or Not?

I once read a story about a guy who could only reduce his tinnitus by drinking whiskey daily. He figured it was better living as an alcoholic than suffering with tinnitus. I'm guessing for a very few lucky folks, alcohol hits the right receptors to silence tinnitus.
