It was a good 18-24 months before I could say it was completely gone. I havnt tried that but I know when I’m in a quiet room I do try and listen for it and thankfully it’s not there.

Not me. Before T, I needed silence to concentrate or sleep. Any little sound annoyed me. I was hyperaware of any sound in an otherwise quiet environment. And I never heard even the faintest T sound.

To hear it the way (as loud and as clear) I would hear it in a completely quiet room, I would need to wear earplugs during the day. This doesn't mean that I wouldn't hear it without earplugs.

You will know that you are free of T when you use earplugs or ear muffs in a quiet room and hear complete silence.

Is it completely gone, or can you hear it in a quiet room (or in a quiet room while wearing earplugs or muffs)? H often takes 6-12 months to go away. It goes away a lot more often/reliably than tinnitus. There is a good chance that you will end up being ok.

Same, my ear canals are easily irritated, so continuous use of plugs is not great for me. Our ears are designed to breathe and to regulate pressure. They don’t like being continually blocked off and doing so can cause other problems.
