From Severe to Very Mild Tinnitus and How I Did It with Mentha Arvensis Tea

Tinnitus is really tough because unlike other illnesses, it's 24/7. I've had it for over 10 years due to loud sound exposure, albeit a mild case and non-reactive/no hyperacusis.

Last December, I developed severe reactive multitonal tinnitus/hyperacusis due to an ear infection. I was diagnosed with SNHL.

You need to get Mentha arvensis tea bags, also known as corn mint or Japanese mint. 3 tea bags and 1 cup of water. Boil until you only get about a few tablespoons.

You must warm it up before dripping it in the ear, before you sleep. 2-4 drops in each ear for about 10 minutes.

I highly recommend this because it worked for me. Hopefully others on this forum can confirm. I know many are suicidal. Severe tinnitus can be very tough.

How long were you doing this? Do you think it wasn't coincidentally the passage of time? Do you think it was successful because of your ear infection induced tinnitus and hyperacusis?

You should read it with some more thought. He literally mentions his worsening in the second paragraph.

So he first had a mild case for 10+ years but then it worsened from an ear infection last December.

If anyone dares to try this, let me know. I've already fucked my ears up over the weekend using foam earplugs (with no previous issues) and now my life went from suicidal to please kill me! Guess pouring tea in my ear may not be a bad idea...

@arctic_penguin, how did you come up with this idea? What does 'ten minutes' mean? How long did you perform this before results? Ear infection was in both of your ears?

 

This seems pretty low risk to do. Given it doesn't have to be freshly off the pot.

 

What treatment did your doctor prescribe? Did you follow it?

 

I have a few recipes from a herbalist. There are 2 other recipes I've tried, and one of them cured me for 5 seconds. One of them is for hearing loss, but I had a scary spike upon waking, but with a 0.2/10 day with that one. But the spike was so bad, that I believe it should be tested on an animal first. I don't want to risk it with that one.

Hearing aids, but still haven't gotten them yet. A Stanford Audiologist told me I needed to adjust them at my level of hearing loss.

Thanks, it wasn't time because I got instant relief within about 2 or 3 days, upon waking up. I believe this recipe is for tinnitus generally. solid soild tone does become like a rattling lower tone. It should be used as instructed, upon sleeping and warmed.

 

This recipe comes from herbal medicine. Keep your head tilted with 2-4 drops of it in your ear canal, for 10 minutes. Do the same for the other ear. It should be warmed and not cold or so hot that it burns you. It should be dropped before you sleep. I had relief the next morning, but try it for up to 3 days. My ear infection was in one ear, but my mild ear's tone adjusted to the infected ear soon after.

 

In which way the foam earplugs were bad for you please?

I have been using foam earplugs, just here and there, without issue. One ear had a high constant ring I could only hear if I plugged my ear with my finger and barely heard with the earplug in. However, after a short car ride (2o minutes) with the foam earplugs, the ring is now horribly present and has not left in 4 days. It could be the irritated ear canal but it's been a few days and I'm afraid it's now permanent. If you have sensitive ears, it's just a warning to maybe not put anything in them. I wish more than anything, since this started almost 2 months ago, that I had not used earplugs at all due to what just happened.

Looks like it's mint tea. The box has no ingredients but says it is mint.

 

Might want to find a retailer... shipping is 3 times as much as the product. Wow.

What kind of ear infection was it? Outer ear? Middle ear?

 

Mentha arvensis is wild mint. So I’m sure there’s many brands and kinds that are just specifically wild mint/mentha arvensis. It should work the same?

 

It'll be too late now for my mistake but I will start using over the ear protection when needed.

 

It's very mild, and is masked by outside noise. I could live, work, and sleep with no issues, whereas before I could hear it over traffic and it was disabling. Just driving on the highway would make it spike.

Yes, keep in mind though that if it works, your body may build tolerance, but that is with all chemicals. So, perhaps it's better to go with 1 week on and 1 week off.
