Discussion in 'Support' started by TheDanishGirl, Nov 13, 2020.

?

Will you get vaccinated for coronavirus?

  1. Yes, right away, as soon as possible, when the first vaccine becomes available

  2. Yes, planning to, but I will wait a while to see if there are any potential long-term side effects

  3. Maybe, I haven't decided yet one way or another

  4. No, I'm not going to get vaccinated

I go back for shot #2 after January 13.

So far no worse than the flu shot!

The vaccine's side effects are real and worrisome. Nobody denies that.

Why am I still enthusiastic to get that vaccine?

Risk management, my man. If I contract COVID-19, even as a (relatively) young healthy person, I have a roughly 1.5% chance to either die or get a long-term disability. If I were, say, 70 years old, this would rise to 3.5-5% (2-3% to die and 1.5-2% to get Long COVID-19).

The Pfizer vaccine was tested on 43,000 people in its Phase 3 trial. "No serious safety concerns observed", meaning 0%, zero, not a single one of those 43,000 has died or become disabled.

Now imagine the following situation. There are two queues going two buildings. You must get into one of them.

The left building has a hellish cacophony of coughing, beeping, crying, and the stink of dead bodies coming out of it, because 20 out of 100 people going into it get so sick they end up in a hospital bed, and 1 out of 66 people either dies, or slithers out of the building permanently crippled.

The right building is much smaller and completely quiet. Everyone that walks into it also walks out, maybe complains of a mild headache for a couple days, then gets on with their lives. Since the vaccine's long-term effects (2, 5, 10 years later) have not been studied yet, some small percentage of these people may get some serious side effect later on; this is simply not known yet. However, based on our best scientific understanding of the body, this risk is thought to be extremely low.

Which queue should a sane person get into? The one with the clear and present danger of dying/becoming disabled right now, or the one where there may be a small risk of getting something much later?

The argument about the mainstream media is overused, and although they do indeed spin stories to fit whatever agenda they are selling, who’s to say that Jack - or anyone else for that matter - follows it? I think a lot of people here go beyond that and try to look for hard data that’s verified by the most trusted sources.

Tinnitus researchers have to be objective. Some will no doubt have the condition, but I don’t see it as being a prerequisite to allowing one to study it and/or how accurate their contributions may be. You seem to have an agenda against scientists.

My favorite twist of this is people who think Kubrick helped the government fake the moon landings, and in return the government footed the bill for 2001 (a pretty laughable idea; the movie cost 10m to make and the financials are fairly public).

There's a movie called Room 237 that explores these "theories". I tried to watch it with a friend in 2006 or so and we decided there was no amount of pot we could smoke that would make the experience tolerable.
NE US close to Canadian border at 1600'. The idea that flood levels would ever get remotely that high is laughable, and even though a shift of 10-15 degrees would radically alter our flora and fauna here, many of our trees and edible animal species would be able to survive. Additionally, our overall population is very low and we produce a fair amount of agricultural goods locally. (I can pretty easily get stuff like chickens neighbors killed, or buy an entire half cow if I feel like turning my workshop into a butcher's den bloodbath for a day).

Nothing is going to be perfect; by the models I've seen, if I could be anywhere it would be NZ, and we considered it, but we'd basically never see our family again. My general plan is to try to provide my kid/kids a path out of the country for college, in such a way that they're on track to GTFO of the US if they desire. I think this country is in the midst of a slow decline into being a Russia-style gangster state, and I'm not super optimistic that much can be done to avert that.
Er, can you define "worrisome"? I'd deny that.

COVID-19 Vaccine FAQ: Safety, Side Effects, Efficacy (webmd.com)

The side effects profile is very similar to the flu vaccine, with a tendency to present slightly worse sickness-like feelings. The only reports of very severe adverse reactions have been allergy related and so far have occurred in people with an underlying history of severe allergy reactions.

If anything, mRNA tech seems a lot less sketchy than live culture vaccines and various other things we've done over the years. (It would be pretty hard to accidentally inject millions of people with a live money virus with an mRNA vaccine; this exact thing happened with the second wave of the Polio vaccine. That did lead to a substantial rethinking of vaccine safety, and it was a century ago, but it's still worth remembering).

Nothing metabolically active is without risk, but, the risk of the vaccine seems very minimal; the risk of COVID-19 to someone in my demographic could be as high as fatal in 1:250 cases; therefore, I will happily get the shots because so many of my fellow Americans seem to desire to be superspreaders, and I am getting sick of staying home ;)

That said, if I thought this vaccine carried any real substantial risks, I would stay home for another year to find out. I don't, neither do any of my MD/RN/PhD friends, and no whitepapers that have emerged have caused me to cast doubt on that.

Of course, if I got my "news" from Newsmax and OANN I might disagree ;) Or CNN/MSNBC, for that matter. Go straight to the horse's mouth: in this case we have direct access to all the primary sources, and if we have a better grounding in pharma and bio than your average MSNBC journalist does, we're actually far better off ignoring the (sensational) press coverage entirely and just reading the data and making better informed decisions which haven't been editorialized.

Basically everyone I know who's read 50-500 pages of whitepapers and data on these vaccines seems convinced they are quite safe, and all the insane alarmism is coming from people who don't know what a whitepaper is, let alone the difference between a preprint from a garbage journal and a peer-reviewed printing in a major journal with 250 citations.

Only thing that worries me is how many people like me were given the vaccine during trials? I'm guessing very very few if any. I've got advanced heart failure, with a 20% ejection fraction. There are cardiac side-effects seen with the vaccine. Tachycardia is one. I suffer from bouts of ventricular Tachycardia. If the vaccine triggers that in me, it will at the very least trigger my defibrillator to save my life. Could be even worse.

They are going to supposedly vaccinate high risk populations like me soon. I figure since rest homes are next, there are probably a lot of heart patients in there. Since I'm only 51 I will get mine later. I can watch to see what happens to those people. Ive not seen figures from the trial of how many people with heart failure like me were given the vaccine. I'm also on a ton of meds too. Reactions with those? This mRNA is brand new technology never used in a vaccine before.

If I were a healthy guy I'd not worry at all about the vaccine. I do get my flu shot every year and never had an issue, but that's old traditional technology.

So far that's what I'm hearing. If we were to see real issues five to thirty years hence (auto-immune consequences, cancers etc) it would be extremely hard to pin it on the vaccine. We do have examples of things that have arisen over time that could well coincide with vaccination programs (autism, soft tissue cancers of breast, prostate etc) but the process of proving one caused the other is difficult and laborious if even possible, and discovery is not desirable at the societal level anyway. As well as that there are so many other possibilities in our world of toxins that anything less than going completely off-grid will carry risk (and even going off-grid could see you eaten by bears well before your SV40-induced prostate cancer appears).

No problem PeteJ and thank you for your comments.

A lot of people will ignore flawed PCR tests because Covid 19 is a big problem and many just want life to return to normal, something only time will tell. In the UK we have been told a new variant of Covid 19 was recently discovered which is more infections than Covid one. This has prompted the Government to implement new lock-downs when we just came out of the last one on December 2nd. To crown it all another two variants of the virus, from South Africa have been detected in the UK called 501.v2. Scientists say there is no guarantee vaccines will work against these which are more transmittable.

In this instance, I recognize and value the importance of science.

I didn’t ignore you, Pete. What information did you post about the flawed PCR tests? I might have missed it. Did you cite your sources?

FGG responded to your claim that the vaccine can change one’s DNA, and the other claim you made about it causing strokes is unsubstantiated. Where did you read that and what was the evidence behind it? The irony here, of course, is that the virus itself is known to cause strokes as well as heart and vascular problems. There’s a lot of reliable information out there if you look for it.

The link below is worth a read, but I implore you to dig deeper than news articles.

Fact check: Clarifying claims around Pfizer vaccine deaths and side effects

Don’t get drawn into spreading misinformation as Paul Offit says in this Stat article (a professor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). Try to break the cycle of bullshit by fact-checking yourself before you spread hearsay information from dodgy websites or social media.

And there will be spurious safety questions,” Offit added. “‘My grandmother got the vaccine and two days later she had a stroke or a heart attack,’ so the virus causes strokes or heart attacks. You’re going to be dealing with all of that. And with all of the misinformation put out there by the anti-vaccine movement, because you can appeal, apparently, to people’s sense of conspiracy, that there are microchips in the vaccine, that the vaccine causes Covid. And no vaccine is 100 percent effective, so some people inoculated will still get Covid.”

Samantha Penta, an assistant professor of emergency preparedness at SUNY Albany, noted that there is also always some segment of the population unable to tolerate vaccines, because of allergies or because they are immuno-compromised. Taken together, such caveats guarantee that “just because a vaccine is out doesn’t mean that a sufficient proportion of the country is protected to mean that the virus is not still spreading.”

So far, any serious side effects of inoculations have been comparatively isolated and easily managed, but the vaccines have yet to be tested on children or those who are pregnant or lactating, for example.

Just read about that new version of COVID-19 you have in the UK. They think it came from South Africa. Looks like you have some travel restrictions now for the country.

Meanwhile if you want to come to the US you'll need a negative test within 3 days before coming here.

US to require negative COVID-19 test from UK travelers

I'm perfectly aware that it was developed alongside Germany, but didn't know how fast it was rushed to the public in other countries. It's not well published how aggressive other countries are being, but a big deal here has been made about emergency use by the FDA. I think Russia was the first big country to start using a vaccine. I think it’s a travesty what’s happened to the public opinion on vaccines in recent times. People quickly forget how many lives vaccines have saved, and how many people have been spared from life-altering illnesses. The vaccination process is no longer celebrated for the great scientific advancement that it is, and is instead being picked apart by armchair experts who have never set foot in a lab before or even held a Petri dish. What we have is an abundance of people, who have no idea what they are talking about, spreading misinformation all over social media that is being further spread through stupidity and ignorance.

In my opinion, the anti-vax movement is a disaster in the making that will result in unnecessary deaths and the resurgence of viruses that we had previously seen the back of.

A few days ago, I saw another friend of mine (who’s, unfortunately, another believer that Covid is a hoax) trying to rally people to “wake up” by sharing an article that he exclaimed contained further scientific proof. When I clicked on it I saw it was authored by Joseph Mercola and I just shook my head and closed it. I can guarantee you that he would have no idea who Mercola is, or what his history is like within the medical space, such as how he claimed that homoeopathy had cured a boys autism, and how he sold sunbeds as health tools before he was forced to stop. The list of his medical scams and bizarre claims is a mile long.

Moderna vaccine did have one allergic reaction like what happened with the Pfizer. Not common thankfully and nobody im aware of has been permanently hurt.

Boston doctor has severe allergic reaction to Moderna COVID vaccine: NYT

I would like to know more about this tachycardia they keep mentioning in articles. Is the tachycardia caused by the vaccine or is it merely the result of taking a shot of epinephrine?

It sounds like the doctor given the vaccine in this case was already having tachycardia from the vaccine and then took the epinephrine. I guess it's not dangerous to give someone already suffering tachycardia a shot of epinephrine!!? I know epinephrine is given in cases of anaphylaxis, but never considered the case where the patient is in tachycardia. That's what scares me, since I have severe heart failure and a defibrillator.

Apologies for the late reply. I've been having a very similar conversation via email with an old friend of mine and it's been a little too intense to have it in parallel here. Broadly speaking, I think you and I are on the same page (can't say the same about my old mate and me). Not everything is a conspiracy theory and when the unfolding of key events don't match one's experience it may become necessary to ask questions, regardless of the resistance and ridicule.

I had a real problem with the COVID-19 narrative very early on, around 20th January this year when The Guardian newspaper (among others) began publishing images of masked dead people lying prostrate on the streets of Wuhan. Shortly thereafter, our own infamous Professor, Neal "Shagger" Ferguson released his apocalyptic figures for the number of deaths we could expect here in the UK. And the rest is history.

Appalled by the media reporting I started to look for independent, non-edited voices who I felt were qualified to counter the narrative that very quickly ramped up to what I can only describe as a 24/7 propaganda drive. The people I looked for were virologists, epidemiologists, consultant pathologists, academics (in various fields), award-winning journalists, lawyers and barristers; you know, the type of "shit for brains" that hang out on social media. One subject that came up time and again was PCR, and more particularly it's use, some were saying, "misuse" as a diagnostic tool for COVID-19.

As you know, PCR has been at the heart of identifying "cases" of the disease against which practically the entire world is now being asked to vaccinate (Bill Gates sure has had a busy year). Although PCR can be a highly valuable tool, we've seen eyebrows raised for months now about the cycle threshold (Ct) being employed when it is used to generate COVID-19 "cases", which are to my understanding different from a clinical diagnosis of COVID-19. There have been enough experts; Yeadon, Heneghan, even Fauci (if he is an expert) to have stated that anything above circa Ct 25 is practically useless as a diagnostic tool for COVID-19. Nevertheless, our own government documents in the UK state that a "typical" test for SARS-CoV-2 will cycle a maximum of 40 times. The fact that labs are not required to routinely report back on these figures and that there is also a lack of standardisation raises serious questions, especially when one factors in the testing of asymptomatic people and all that can potentially do to "case" figures.

In my opinion this is a scandal. At one end of the narrative we see people dropping dead like flies on the streets of Wuhan, and at the other end nine months later we are told to inject a vaccine. The test driving the metrics upon which the entire thing hangs together is, predominantly PCR. I've been as concerned about the anomalies surrounding this as you have, and incidentally, the question for me has never been one of pro-vax vs. anti-vax. It's a question of this vaccine for COVID-19, a novel disease that brings with it a serious number of points that need addressing at the government and judicial level.

I've never been one for groupthink. If I'm a conspiracy theorist for having enough of a concern that I've ended up digging around online for further information then so be it. I'll happily join the growing line of conspiracy theorists like Dr. Reiner Fuellmich who has now served legal, cease and desist, papers on Germany's "Mr. PCR", Professor Christian Drosten over his misuse of the PCR test. I understand that a bunch of solicitors and barristers here in the UK are preparing similar.

The issue is not going to go away, but hopefully 2021 will shed a little more light on it.

Until then, as I stated before, I won't get this vaccine.
