I think I might have covid, my tinnitus randomly started raging really bad. I've been sick for 3 days with no symptom improvement, and it keeps getting louder and louder :(

It gets better my tinnitus was louder to when I had covid. It took me some months and It was my "normal" tinnitus again=)

Last weeks have been goin pretty good. Only like 1 "loud sound" incident each week. Focusing on relaxing and just getting my mental state together. Feels good when u got some energy to actually do something :) Feeling positive.

Went to ENT today. As I expected, no help. I was insulted when he said "Your ears look so healthy, I would want them myself! You have perfect hearing at your age!" Well, that is good. But still.

Then why there is pain inside my ear then? Or the feeling of fullness or why my ears go haywire whenever I hear high frequencies?

I had hearing test today and have good news! My hearing is basically the same than 6 years ago and it's actually even improved a bit on 8khz area! So that's good news!

Amusement Parks are hazardous. Even with ear plugs I'm probably gonna pay for today's festivities. Just wanna live a little before I die.

@kingsfan I feel like I've been lucky so far that my t has mostly stayed constant. Even though it's insanely loud I cope pretty well overall. I know I'm playing with fire doing some of these activities but I'd rather take some risk then fold completely.

Unfortunately, I mowed the lawn again and it caused me great pain around my body and face. So I will be avoiding doing that.....forever if possible...

@henkess I was doing alot of twisting and turning with the lawn mower and that aggravated my back pain which is connected to my face pain. It's all muscle pain. It's a confusing situation sadly, I'm still trying to seek help from doctors :(

Oh sorry to here that hope i gets better :( have you tried paraflex. I have it for spasmer in ear, and muscle pain. It works for me but i need to take it later in the day i get so tired when i take it😆 My spasmer in ear gets better in 4 hours, and my muscle pain to.

Big progress in june 2025 ! Tinnitus stabilizing, hyperacusis softening a bit, shorter spikes :)

Going to visit a doctor today. 2 months since the event, should've gone earlier but maybe if I get some help / medication for this.

I went through your posts and I can relate. One thing struck me though, something I do a lot too: you dwell on and ruminate about what has happened. Yes, you got unlucky 2 months ago, but instead of looking back at something you can't change, you need to leave that behind and look forward. I do this too, but it only makes me depressed.

@Maruashen I try not to ruminate, as you said, it doesn't help. What happened happened. I do try to focus on positive things. It's not always easy...

Doctor sends me to ENT. I know it won't help, but maybe if I get some medication to try out. At least I'd like to do hearing check. And there is a possibility for a therapist.

You're gonna want to go in with a plan to advocate for yourself, whether it's trying something like gabapentin, LDN, or the myriad of other medications that have been discussed here on TT. Otherwise they'll just tell you to get used to it or get white noise generators.

oh man.. i feel you.. wish i had answers.. sometimes i just tell myself i have to sit it out, and one day will experience natural health & wellbeing again.. but it has been a long harsh road already.. we got to give it time i tell myself.. it's brutally harsh.. it will get better

18 months since I got H. Doing much better now. Able to go outside with ear plugs. Watched latest squid games season with decent volume. Still taking Nortriptyline. Although very low dosage 5 mg.

I'm happy to hear you're doing better! May I ask if you've ever tried clomipramine, and if so, what made you switch to nortriptyline? I've never taken either one, and I still can't decide which one I would ask for.

I started using Nortriptyline due to a cyst developed inside the roof of my mouth. I developed it 3 months after I developed H. Not sure whether it is in any way related to H. Mouth Dr has advised me to undergo operation which I have resisted until now

To me, it's not the sound that's worst. It's the physical sensation. Aching ears, burning, headache, fullness, the feeling something is broken.

Why does it feel like my head is between a bench vise? What a terrible feeling. I never really wanted to come back here. I was doing well. One stupid mistake when I just wanted to feel normal again. It's been 2 months already.

I now have fullness in both ears, dunno whats happening but it feels like I have earplugs in even if I dont have them in, it's some weird persistent sensation. Not sure :/

It sucks realizing that no matter how much I want this to be done... it never will be. Tinnitus doesn't take a vacation, and it doesn't care about yours.

Same for me, same for nearly all of us here :( Two years ago I started living almost normally, going to bars and clubs, as I felt better. But now I'm living a nightmare... Tinnitus increased because of that. I have sleepless nights every nights. This conditions always reminds you that your life will never be the same. We have to forget our social life forever...

I'm getting weird headaches/tinnitus flare ups in the early morning. It's like my head is pulsating with sound. Hyperacusis has been flaring up too after a noisy day, although it's getting better by day 3

Had a conversation with a coworker that is VERY loud when she talks. I thought my Hyperacusis was better so i just took 2-3 steps back and had the conversation for around 1 hour without earplugs. Was so proud that i managed handle it decent! Today im paying with a pretty huge spike tho :/

Had movie night at my friends place and my ears are slightly worse again. The movie wasn't even loud! My ears haven't been this bad in many, many ( y )ears. Frustrating. But what am I gonna do?

I think you should focus on the success you had 19/6! Recovery and habitulation seems like 2 steps forward and 1 step backward for most people. The key is to slowly push forward. One setback isnt the end, because each time you push forward, you risk a setback, and thats the whole point sort of. :)

hello, i read on your profile that part of your tinnitus was caused by ototoxicity, and i was wondering which medication made it worse? And i was also wondering if antidepressants worsen your tinnitus? which medication do you take and which have you previously tried, and what kind of effect do they have on your tinnitus? thanks!

Naproxen made my tinnitus worse. My ENT specialist confirmed afterwards that it was indeed an ototoxic anti-inflammatory.
I started with Amitriptyline and have now been on Mirtazapine for 4 years.
Neither of the 2 antidepressants made my tinnitus worse.
Going to music evenings has made it much worse.

did you start the amiptriptyline before or after getting tinnitus? (what was and are your doses for these meds?)

why did you switch to mirtazapine?

I swiched to Mirtazapine because Amitriptyline no longer worked. Now Mirtazapine no longer works because 2 years ago I resumed a social life and exposed myself to music.

Thanx Sharonbell =) Its a little scared and hides under my bed alot, but it will get better i hope. I´m new with cats, so dont know so much yet :)
