If you don’t work in a noisey work environment that would cause you spikes, than you shouldn’t be wearing hearing protection there. It might have to do with allergies. I have talked many times while wearing hearing protection and have not had issues as long as you weren’t screaming.

@Arianaj, It definitely sounds like a nasal problem and could be down to allergies. When you go to bed you can get post nasal drip going down the back of your throat that enters your eustachian tubes. You might get a snotty taste in your mouth as a symptom. The nasal spray will help. Love...

Also, try a sinus rinse for the excess mucus. If it's brought on by allergies than a steroid spray like dymista would help. Breathing in steam is also good for clearing your sinuses and Eustachian tubes. Try adding some menthol as well.

It sounded like allergies were the trigger, but you may have had underlying hearing loss before that. Do you have a history of loud music, headphones, loud cars? Any medications? maybe you're problem was an ear infection due to the echoing sound problem in your ear.
