Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) — Options for Treating Tinnitus

My left ear had very mild ear canal infection in late March and two weeks later I had fluid behind my middle ear. I could hear my left ear is making noise when I chewed. So after 1 week I went to Polyclinic for referral letter to see ENT specialist and the doctor there said I have mild ear canal...

    2024 US Presidential Election

Thanks! You’re the first to notice. Just for the record, it has NOTHING to do with my political standpoint. Quite the opposite, actually. But I’m sure you already knew that. 😉 I think of it as my “hidden” war face, and also as a little “hello” to a couple of people in this thread.

Seeing an ENT for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction: Should I Decline All Tests?

They will definitely want to perform a Tympanometry. That is the standard test for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. Most people seem to tolerate it well, but I was not comfortable with the sound and the vibrating sensation it caused. The test I strongly recommend avoiding at all costs is the...

Attending a Noisy Indoor Graduation Ceremony: Tips and Experiences?

Oh man, I am sorry to hear that. This is truly a devastating condition. I tried to “live” about two months ago and went to a club with my school friends, wearing earplugs. I thought I could handle it if I had my earplugs in, but no — I made my condition a lot worse. I really understand how you...

Ear Pressure and Pain After a Restroom Hand Dryer and Child Screaming

I know that feeling. I have a kind of pain that feels like a sharp knife inside my middle ear. Or like a laser. Or something very, very sharp. There is also a feeling of pressure, as if something is pushing against my eardrum from inside the middle ear. I developed this condition after being in...

Tinnitus Triggered by Muscle Tension, Neck Strain and Possible Nerve Damage

I have had tinnitus for over a month. I went to an ENT (otolaryngologist), who noticed that my neck muscles were extremely tight. He gave me a referral for massage therapy. I have had chronically tight neck and shoulder muscles for more than 10 years. The ENT suspected that my tinnitus might be...

Car Honked Close to Me: Tinnitus Spike and Hearing Loss Concerns

Hi, A little bit about myself: I have had tinnitus since February this year, caused by ear syringing. :banghead: My hearing tests, including an extended audiogram up to 12.5 kHz, are normal. I am still trying to cope with it, but recently a car honked at me, which gave me a bit of anxiety...

@delta784 I'm not sure what the point is in commenting somebody "seems mild" here. A comment like that speaks more to who you are vs what I am. This is not a competition. You're only in competition with yourself. You can't possibly know what my tinnitus is like on a daily basis just as I can't...

Seeking Advice for Reactive Tinnitus and Sound Distortion: What's the Best Way to Proceed?

Everyone’s tinnitus is different. I can only tell you what I did when I was in your situation. If it is noise-induced, give your ears about a month to rest using earplugs, so they have a chance to heal. This may make the tinny sound seem worse when you stop using the plugs, but that is likely...

It just doesn’t make sense because it’s so erratic. My daughter’s graduation ceremony caused a huge spike, but I didn’t have any of the other symptoms afterward.
