I used to live in southwest Virginia. Beautiful country, rolling hills, mountains, lots of green. I thought about going back, but then I remembered ... chiggers!

Southern Netherlands here.

 

Oak Park, IL - a suburb flush up against Chicago's West Side. Birthplace of Ernest Hemmingway, Kenneth Fearing (a writer still published), the comic actor Bob Newhart, the actress Betty White, residence of the late actor John Mahoney, the famous psychotherapist Karl Rogers, site of the world famous studio of Frank Lloyd Wright along with his buildings such as the Unitarian Temple. In 2008 the population voted 90% for Obama (as solidly Blue as you can get; I know people who were rendered physically ill by the news that Trump was declared President.) It has one of the highest percentages in the entire Nation of people who actually vote vs. the total over-18 population (over 90%.) When a rare Trumper posted a large sign on his front lawn that said "REPEAL OBAMACARE", someone late at night removed and apparently destroyed it (which I did not for various reasons agree with, and which various write-ins to the local paper apologized for.) Only until the relatively recent Supreme Court 5-4 decision were you legally permitted to own a handgun in the town. Also, among the highest property taxes in the State (High School teacher's annual salaries average $100,500.00.)

I also happen to have one of the smallest houses in the entire town, which is the only reason I can still afford to live there. Finally, just about the only truly successfully intregrated Suburb in the entire Chicago area with Minorities evenly interspersed throughout the residential blocks (an Ordinance was passed since the 1970's prohibiting the posting of a FOR SALE sign on the front lawn to prevent blockbusting.)

 

New York, NY. Always thought it was a blessing to live in such a great city, after tinnitus it's a curse.

@ASilverLight where I live in England is the flattest part of the UK so I'm used to it haha.

 

As anyone can see in my profile, I live in The Hague. The political heart of the Netherlands. I grew up in a green suburb of the city, where I sort of lived next door to the Prime Minister Mark Rutte (well two streets from my parental house, but I practically saw him going off to work on his bike on a daily basis). Just recently moved to the Zuiderpark in the southern part of the city, where a lot of concerts are held but luckily for me, my house is pretty soundproof

Living so close to Rutte must've been pretty weird. I like the Hague, been a few times. Also, little bit jealous you live so close to the beach. Not a huge beachy person really, but I could totally imagine myself going there on a windy day just to get some thoughts out of me etc.

 

My sister studied in The Hague, so I went there a couple of times, and I absolutely loved the city. Also visited Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Utrecht and my personal favourite, Delft. Good times.

Well, you'll get used to it eventually. He lives a pretty mundane life, like living next to his mother's house (she recently passed away), doing some groceries at the local shopping centre and he is never accompanied by a bodyguard. It's kinda normal being a PM, apparently.

The beach is a big plus indeed. Especially since they've renovated the pier recently, with new shops and great food, while enjoying the view. The only thing is that you have to take the pesky seagulls for granted. Anyway, I'm more than glad to help sightsee if you or anyone else on Tinnitus Talk wants to visit the city some time.
