  • Has anyone with Hyperacusis undergone Ultrasound tests ? Did it make your H worse ?
    kingsfan
What kind of ultrasound tests? I've had many bladder and kidney ultrasounds. Those were completely silent.
    Heal82
It would have been oral ultrasound. However, for now they have requested CTA oral maxillofacial along with CTA of head and neck (with and without contrast)
People who have improved their H, did you take NAC everyday ?
    Heal82
@Utdmad89 Sorry to hear that..Hope you and I and all other sufferers of these horrible conditions get soon better..
    cjbhab
@Utdmad89 i actually think NAC makes my T worse too.
    twa
No, but I do eat a good diet and I wear earplugs outside the house. The only activities I stopped doing were movies, sporting events, concerts and music at church. The music is still loud and I wear earplugs. I may start wearing earmuffs on top of the earplugs at church.
CT SCAN: The mastoid air cells are well developed and aerated. The external auditory canals and scutum are normal bilaterally.
    Yellowblue44
Was the Ct scan loud. How are you now x
    Heal82
It was not at all loud. I also wore Mac ear plugs firmly inside. My LDL is somewhere in late 40s.
It (my LDL) is my personal observation not something that I got formally tested
Doctor is asking to do temporal CT scan without contrast. It is for Pulsatile Tinnitus. Has anyone with H done it ?
    Heal82
@stacey How do you manage to sleep with Pulsatile Tinnitus? Which medication do you use ?
    stacey
@Heal82 I don't take any medication. I take melatonin for sleep as it's natural.
    Heal82
@stacey I take melatonin too but after 4 hours of sleep I wake up and then it at least 2 hours from me to sleep again for another short nap of 1.5 hours.. Thant's about it..
Hey do your ears hurt at all?
    Heal82
Also, what do you do to sleep? Any medications?
    Zigs
Yeah I bought the course but I think you can find similar concepts for free online or on curable. It's all kind of the same idea - teaching the brain not to fear noise. I'm currently taking melatonin for sleep

    Good Luck!!

Great to hear @Heal82 . I hope you keep getting better

Nortriptyline gives me fast heart rate. HB pushes upto 120 just by walking for more than 10-15 minutes in one go. And this is when I have reduces the dosage to 7 mg
    Heal82
I have now further reduced the dosage to 6 mg. I basically want not to have nerve pain and sleep 6-7 hours without any side effects
    Hello @Heal82
I'm glad you liked my post, you have to have faith that you will get better,,,,, but it's slow and lots of patience x
    Heal82
Thanks, positivity is the cornerstone around which this condition heals. Thanks for taking time and leaving msg on my profile. I try to restrict myself to positive posts.
Took a Tylenol. No respite. Took Hydroxyzine 25 mg. Hope to sleep for atleast 2 hrs. Anyone who reads please share words of support
    Heal82
Was able to sleep for 4.5 hrs last night. The jaw pain had gone when under the effect of Hydroxyzine. Now, morning it's back, I have just now taken 10 mg Citalopram.
A suggestion to all future sufferers fix your anxiety. If you have to take medicine even benzos take it
I think I got a major*2 setback because of my continuous anxiety. My upper jaw is hurting like hell.I don't know what it's in store for me.
First time met someone from medical fraternity(Audiologist) who knew about Hyperacusis. She offered sound therapy but left the decision 2 me.
Swallowing anything feels like I am loading a gun. Am I ever going to get better ? No improvement since last 2-3 weeks
At this point of time, I don't know how many different tinnitus tones I have. Everything is just so jumbled up.
Why does it happen that one tinnitus tone goes in background and the other tone's sound picks up and takes the center stage ?
    Tryn2BHopeful
    T is a fricken mystery.
    Juliane
I wondered about that too. Perhaps the brain can only focus on one tone at a time?
Everyone keeps saying about ear fullness but I have ear hollowness.I feel like my ears an empty metal vessel.Every tiny sound echoes in head
I have severe Hyperacusis.Very hard to tolerate even my own voice. But, I don't have jaw pain, ear fullness or eye floaters. It means?
Has anyone had an experience where tinnitus just vanishes when doing some stretching exercises like yoga/Surya Namaskar ? I had it today.
    Nadia231
No, unfortunately I've never had any periods of no T since it started 7 years ago, for my it gets louder with certain movements. So I guess that's good news, you must have sine sort of somatic T that improved with movement
    Heal82
Also, I have multi tonal Tinnitus so it's not like all the tones disappear but one central tone of constant shhhh disappears briefly
Has anyone with kids and family ever been able to fix H&T? It seems success stories that I have read so far are of people without any Kids.
People with severe Hyperacusis..How do you brush your teeth ? Do you use some special type of toothbrush ?
    aab
I dont use toothbrush. I use dental floss instead. I am afraid what will be consequences of this approach, maybe my approach is wrong.
    Heal82
I just bought super soft toothbrush from Amazon and they are much better than what I was using untill now

What does it mean to protect your ears but at the same time avoid over protection ?
    Tryn2BHopeful
Protect your ears from dangerously loud noise, but not from normal everyday sounds. Like conversations.
    Heal82
For me 50db is upper limit. So, for now I am wearing ear plugs all the time except when I am alone at home
    Heal82
Even conversations with my wife and daughter who speak at 60-65 db are bothersome. Switches and opening of faucets with pressure all create discomfort
I checked the db level is around 55 db near the air conditioning unit inside my apartment. I took 1000 mg NAC
In my absolute stupidity I pulled my ear plug out just near the apartment air conditioning unit. I was near it for like 1-2 seconds.
My sleep medication: Melatonin 1 mg extended release, 50mg of Apigenin, 345mg of Magnesium Bisglycinate & 100mg of L-Theanine
Had a decent sleep last night. Fitbit says 6h and 43m. But, I think it's more like 5h. But, still feeling okay today morning.
    RunningMan
I use a Fitbit for sleep also. It's so far off. It thinks I'm asleep a lot of the time just because I am lying still. It does seem more accurate if it thinks I'm awake, then I probably am. So I just use it as a guideline when figuring how much I slept.
    Heal82
Yes,you are right. Earlier my wife used to say the same thing and I never used to believe her. I need to say sorry to her for so many things!!
How do I know that my Tinnitus is reactive ?
    Tryn2BHopeful
Yeah understand that. My T starts out lower 3 or 4 and ends 5 or 6 usually
    Heal82
Also, it seems to sound a lot more with ear plugs on. But, not having ear plugs on makes me fearful especially with kid in the house
    Heal82
Okay..I think I still haven't figured out whether I have reactive tinnitus or not. The Problem is my Hyperacusis prevents me from listening to any loud sounds. So, I really can't say that my Tinnitus is not reactive. It might well be.
When people on Tinnitustalks use the term 'Artificial Noise' what do they mean ? Noise created by cell phone, Bluetooth speaker and laptop ?
    kingsfan
Anything that comes out of a speaker.
    RunningMan
I've always taken it to mean any sounds coming from speakers, headphones, and earbuds, which have of course gone though electronic circuits in route, as opposed to natural sounds in the environment. I sleep listening to a pair of bluetooth speakers emitting cricket/cicada sounds.
Hearing pink noise at a very low level of 34.3 db. I noticed I was beginning to get afraid of lightest of noises which is not good.
