...severe bouts of vertigo, which left me vomiting, and unable to get out of bed for long periods of time.
Fortunately, I received some acupuncture needles shortly after, and began doing self-acupuncture again, something I'd not done for over a year. Almost miraculously, my vertigo...
Hi @Lane, hope you are well. Check out the photo of the acupuncture points in this thread:
Repeated Modified Nerve Blocks and Auditory and Non-Auditory Nerve Stimulation
A page or two back from the end is a photo of the patient BrysonKingMe. I tagged you before but I think it didn't get to...
The problem might improve with time. Even if the treatment is effective, the body still needs time to return to normal. Do you have a routine for stretching and strengthening your neck muscles, as well as relaxing your TMJ? All the treatments you’ve mentioned (chiropractor, masseuse) seem to be...
Also this website and Health CMI are affiliated with acupuncture and acupuncture schooling so they have a vested interest in promoting acupuncture....basically just blatant self-promoting.
Apparently, Heath CMI believes that acupuncture fixes everything...
...than my usual tinnitus.
The only exception is omega-3, which I’ve been taking for many years.
Yesterday, I went for a massage with acupuncture, as my wife read it could help. My neck and back have been quite stiff lately. The massage ended up including some deep tissue work because the...
...It is hard to mask because of the reactive thing. I’ve lost weight and have had many panic attacks.
So do you still have tinnitus? Or have you just managed it?
I tried a lot of therapies; osteopathic, physiotherapy, acupuncture. Nothing seems to work.
Thank you for posting your testimony.
There is some pretty good correlation with when I have had acupuncture. I will at times have one or two good days after acupuncture. This is not a given, but some months it’s almost always true and other months the acupuncture is not as effective.
I also forgot to mention that I have done around ~12 rounds of acupuncture, using these acupoints,
http://www.healthcmi.com/Acupuncture-Continuing-Education-News/1598-acupuncture-quiets-tinnitus
did not help.
The nerve blocking procedure in South Korea always struck me as some kind of ‘special’ acupuncture if I’m being honest. If I recall, they inject the needles behind the earlobe and then move them around physically when need be. The protocol does use Lidocaine injections.
I believe @Chinmoku...
SGB is lidocaine and steroid in your stellate ganglion block in your neck. The Korea treatments are acupuncture needles in the side of the face and around the ears with lidocaine
@KMc24, Glad you’re doing better. Is electro acupuncture regular acupuncture needles with an electro-stimulator machine put on separately or something different?
Yes, I think the 64.5 percent for efficacy rate is way too generous, from personal experience and threads on this forum. 10 percent would be tops. Mixed with electricity sounds awesome, but it's not neuromodulation, the numbers seem way too high. I love acupuncture, but not for tinnitus.
Analysis of Factors Influencing the Efficiency of Acupuncture in Tinnitus Patients
Abstract
An effective acupuncture treatment must comprehend the influence of various factors, but studies in this aspect remain limited. This study aimed to identify relevant factors and search for the best...
I meditate to help fall asleep. After 5 months of doing that, I find it works really well. I have never been able to shut off my tinnitus with meditation though. Could you elaborate on what kind of meditation you do/how do you meditate? It seems to me you have the ability the utterly calm your...
Interesting thought that your friend thinks her tinnitus is related to her nervous system. It definitely sounds logical!
And great that you benefit from meditation. Perhaps one day I will try it. As of now I am still too traumatized by the new sound and loudness... Tinnitus is for sure...
20 years of research doesn't change the fact that is is just electrical pulses that stimulate nerves (not unlike acupuncture) combined with sounds. Appears to me like an experimental treatment with little theory to back its efficacy up. Haven''t seen a single paper describing why or how that is...
...tinnitus volume over time.
Back in the 90s, I tried all sorts of treatments—infusions, low-powered lasers, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, and so on. The one that gave me the most relief was TRT (Tinnitus Retraining Therapy). That’s just my personal experience, though, and I didn’t...
Acupuncture is so helpful. I wish I had found it earlier.
It just takes the anxiety and edge off. I find myself reacting less to tinnitus and just living my life.
...don't penetrate deeply.
I don't think community massage can be a business model, although I wish it were.
The reason why community acupuncture can be a business model at all is that in a standard private acupuncture session, the acupuncturist talks to you for a few minutes about your...
Is the spot size of the NeoRhythm too large, or should it be placed differently on the ear or head? Also, where is the auditory cortex located in relation to the ear?
@StubbyJ
Was the acupuncture treatment for your T only or for H too? I’m doing acupuncture right now for poor blood flow. I have T, and symptoms of PT not properly diagnosed yet and also have Hyperacusis.
Thanks
I had the same experience in the early days when I tried this and Cranial Sacral massages. My tinnitus was quiet prior to the acupuncture, and my ears were screaming after.
I dream of the day I can become dependent on a device that will give me my life back, rather than an endless stream of SSRIs, benzos, sound therapy, hearing aids, Lenire, acupuncture, endless supplements and CBT, all of which helped not one whit.
I've been doing acupuncture again - looks like my current insurance covers it. I've also been doing self-acupuncture for specific muscles around my jaw (really 'dry needling', and not acupuncture in that case). I think that's a little nutty and don't encourage it, but have been enjoying it.
...in the world. I'm not surprised that you keep seeing their faces; I experience the same thing all the time.
Thank you for recommending acupuncture. I'll definitely try it in the near future. For now, I think the most important thing is to adjust my psychiatric medication to help reduce these...
Here some info that might help:

I hope your acupuncturist knows this as well. The medicine is easy to get.
I had it checked out and went through acupuncture a couple of years in. My neck felt better, but the tinnitus remains. I’m convinced, in my case, that it’s something in the brain. They say there’s a kind of filter in our brain, and I think the concussion might have stopped that filter. Life goes...
@Autumnly -- Thanks for posting this. A question that immediately comes to mind is whether 17-24 acupuncture sessions will be enough to ensure the positive results will last long-term, or will sessions need to be continued indefinitely to maintain any improvements. My best guess is that it's...
...We went through my muscles along the neck and jaw, they were quite tight, and I mentioned I had weak tinnitus.
The therapist used acupuncture around the neck and jaw. Poke in several muscles so I could feel it moving in muscles in the face and all the way out in the arm.
Totally worn out in...
...There were more negatives and neutrals than positives and for the positives there were methodology flaws.
And I am not claiming Acupuncture is ineffective. I never made that claim.
I am saying there is insufficient evidence to back up the claim it IS effective.
For conventional medicine -...
...amount of attitude adjustment can resolve that fully.
Another way to enhance the body's production of GABA and improve sleep is through acupuncture. It is very safe and there are no side effects or risks of chemical dependency.

Hi @ZFire, I miss you buddy and I hope you are well.
I was thinking of @Chinmoku today. I hope he's alright. If you are listening brother @Chinmoku, you are in our hearts and thoughts.
Brother Z, I'll catch you around. Don't eat to much pizza at 3 am and stay awesome.
Daniel
It was TCM and yes there was a current/electrical muscle stimulation attached to the needles. He placed one in front of my ear and the surrounding on the side and back of my neck/base of my skull.

Hi
I know it’s a bit late, but how did the acupuncture go?
My tinnitus is from exactly the same as you, stress or Citalopram and I am trying acupuncture tomorrow.
Thank you
Acupuncture helped me lower my T, I have problems with stiff neck muscles and lowering the tensions with acupuncture and stretches lowered my volume a bit.
Acupuncture is worth a try if you know you have a problem somewhere, like stiff neck muscles, or blood flow problem etc.
But yes its hard...
Hi @Brian Newman -- I find acupuncture helps me as well. At one point it helped stop an episode of my ears burning after just one treatment. At other times, it helps bring a much deeper calm to my body and psyche, and my perception of tinnitus changes. From feeling like it's eating me alive, to...
None of these studies are blinded or have control groups. They're not very compelling as far as demonstrating that acupuncture does anything for tinnitus.
If "laser acupuncture" has a 60% cure rate for tinnitus, I'll eat a hat.
My electroacupuncture was intended to help with T. I feel neutral regarding "standard" acupuncture but I strongly discourage the use of electro-a anywhere near the head. Simply not worth the risk in my book. I so wish I could take it back....yea, I know, join the group...Ha!
Hi
Is there anyone tried this :?
There is a new paper I received today
http://www.healthcmi.com/Acupuncture-Continuing-Education-News/1728-acupuncture-found-effective-for-tinnitus
That went away thankfully. I got better extremely slowly over three months, but am now in what I hope is a spike after a fire alarm went off in my house. That being said I highly recommend not doing any more electro-acupuncture.
