I am not picky when it comes to what kind of cancer. If it kills quickly is good enough for me, after I had enough of this T "life".

Yes but when people talk about a "cure for cancer" by means of comparison in medical research I find it a little ridiculous. There may be a handful of different types of tinnitus that affect the inner ear or the brain, but there are more than 200 different types of cancer that affect virtually every major body system. A few of which are "curable" and some are much more treatable than they were in the past.

That being said I doubt a cure for chronic tinnitus will be found in our lifetime. A reasonable treatment may be found, but because of the sluggish pace of drug approval and lack of funding, it will be a long time before any sort of treatment reaches the market.

I was just generalising Alue but yes I agree with your statement about Cancer.I'm no stranger to Cancer so I know what you mean about different types,I was just using it as an example.

In 2020 we will probably be reading one of two things:

"Praise be to Dr. Susan Shore!"

      or

"in ten years they will find something"

      Hello all,
So as of now. What other channels research are looking for a cure on T? Other than this device of dr. Shore? Any pills? Other ways to attack this problem? If anybody knows to update me?

Wow thank you!!! 2020 looks like a clear intersection where we are heading....
I think something concrete will be in 2025. But I hope they work faster and reliable!!!

Have a look at the research thread, though I can understand if it's a bit overwhelming at first. From how I understand it there are two ways to treat tinnitus: 1) if your tinnitus comes with an underlying hearing loss, treat the hearing loss and hope the brain reorganizes itself - 2) don't treat the hearing loss but suppress the hyperactivity within the brain that is your tinnitus (and you could say 3) things like acupuncture, physical therapy, etc might help as well, but they are not a guaranteed cure)

      And many more!

Maybe we should have a summary at the beginning of each research thread that is being updated regularly. Or one thread pinned at the top of the research section which lists all the companies working towards a cure.

You said your tinnitus had improved within the first two months, has it improved more since then?

Yes I agree with you, I think 2 years from now is a bit of a long shot, but definitely by 2025-2030 I think they will found some better solutions, maybe even by then not a cure but I do believe they will have at the very least come up with some better coping devices!

      Fingers crossed ;)

Hi... So, is there anyone in here who could sum up the researchers who are really doing some experiments with repairing hearing damage and noise induced tinnitus? Are there any trials going on at the moment? I have heard about frequency, audion, etc... but is there anyone that is really doing some experiments on humans this year? They are all very successful with mice..... Are there any experiments with people going on? I mean, why does it have to take this long to start anything?

Nobody in the first Susan Shore trial got cured, it's not a cure... a small reduction in tinnitus loudness at best.

Not accurate. She said on FB live that those 2 got their tinnitus back later. Look at the video on youtube.

Treatment for any disease usually begins with something that reduces it. Finding something that reduces tinnitus is a big deal because there has never been a treatment aimed at reducing/eliminating tinnitus before. It has all just been coping strategies.

I agree but the major thing out of it is that she will know MORE about the T. The root of the mechanism, then she can really pin the solution for it once and for all.

It's accurate: they did report complete elimination of their T. It's unfortunate that it didn't stay that way of course, but I didn't think it was expected to stay that way (I read that the expectation would be to use the device regularly because of the way it works).

Who's to say after prolonged use the brain "fixes" its signal. It's freaking stupid all these people, including tinnitus "experts" say there will never be a cure. People died all the time until they accidentally found antibiotics. They don't research this crap for fun. The don't go into it knowing they are going to fail.
