I said it before, and I’ll say it again.
Bugs are the protein source for the future.
No methane emissions, easy to raise.
      No clear cutting forests.
Everyone eats them here, I m a little squeamish when they're not fried or crispy... when they're gooey...ughhh.
Support insect cultivation, it’s good for earth... though probably won’t make a difference now... too little to late.

My family eats some weird shit, my mother in-law, before she passed liked bats, rats, and frogs. Shiiiiiittttt, you wouldn’t believe what people consider normal food here.

Today’s a big Bhuddist day. It lasts for three months. People are supposed to chill and go easy on partying... some do, most don’t.

      It’s hotter than shit here.

I bought some good river fish... so tonight will be yummy.
Local squash, sweet potatoes, fish, beans... no bugs... and local pineapple and mangoes.
      I have fruit shakes everyday.

My tinnitus is still an evil demon, but hey... I’m still fighting.

Keep fighting the good fight and hopefully we will prevail eventually buddy.

I'm hoping your mother in-law didn't eat the rats alive? Shiiitt. Deep fat fried or on the grill I suppose.

Grilled like squirrels. Sometimes frogs will be grilled or made into a dip, soup, goulash. There are some tastes you need to acquire as a child, often through breast milk. The fruit is spectacular, and the veg is awesome too. The pork and duck are amazing, and lots of river fish. Some stuff I don't like, just as my Lao family has no interest in cheese, chocolate, bread, etc.

Lao folk like to eat super fresh and rare. It’s really different, and bamboo is a treat throughout Asia, in soups and stews or in a wok... I digress.

I do like snails injected with PRP, they are delicious.

@Flamingo1, I hope you are doing better. My noise is killing me today and I get a little goofy. I wish I could duplicate the good days. Maybe it’s partly stress. Or entirely inner ear damage idk?

I’ve been talking to Dr. Shulman some. He returns calls at no cost. He will even talk to your primary Dr. It is a free service. I just want to function better and reduce the noise. I’m not exactly sure how brain mapping fits into the whole picture.

Maybe Lenire or something else will be available to us in the near future.

I'm looking into a different TMJ specialist. My noise is screaming today and I do have crunchiness and clicking on my left side but no real pain. That is the same side I had my airplane barotrauma, so it's confusing.

      Change specialists... for sure.
Middle ear and ETD issues are a doozy... uncharted waters.

It does make sense it’s the same side as the barotrauma, I have similar issues on one side that I injured. Some damage happened, but they can’t see it..

Try everything, and I know it is a big ask, and I am not great at it, but there are actually two stretches that will alleviate my aural fullness and clicking shit. It’s not easy, but you lie on your back and then put your legs up and over your head, form is important.

Stay strong man... I hope you get some relief.

I know that this an older post, but I did an extended audiogram yesterday above 8 kHz and up to 16 kHz. No hearing loss showed up on the audiogram, except for a slight dip at 16 kHz on both ears. The tinnitus is only in my left ear. Also I’m 33 years old so I suppose this is a normal result anyway.

I haven’t done any tests on how well I hear speech in background noise (except by myself on my phone which came out normal). But I don’t have to make people repeat themselves in noisy places. I hear speech just fine. What I’ve only noticed is that some sounds are amplified (because of hyperacusis), and for me some tones are therefore disorted. I hear four different sounds and I can’t explain why according to my audiogram. The sounds I hear are not 16 kHz, they are lower than that, but still quite high pitched.

There must be nerve damage for sure. And my left ear feels like it’s still swollen from inside.

I thought @JohnAdams had basically no change in his audiogram but a significant reduction in his tinnitus. @GlennAz did not report back yet on his audiogram.

I thought he said he had minor improvements in his hearing, but was going to wait about 3 months before having an audiogram done in Arizona.

@JohnAdams you say your tinnitus improved a lot but in some thread you said you hear all kinds of crazy stuff? So how did your tinnitus improve?
      What do you hear now?

Also you might have had improvements in some frequencies that were lost but they don't show up on the audiogram, so while you might have had real benefits, it doesn't show up on the audiogram. And your audiogram is quite impressive from the beginning already.

Before I got tinnitus, my audiogram was way worse than yours, and I wasn't at all concerned about it...

You made this post on February 2nd, 2019 and it is now July 20th, 2019.

      Five months have passed.

What were the final results, and how does one go there? I will do anything at this point.

This afternoon, I was watching a Netflix. I kept hearing a rhythmical beeping in my worse ear. I didn’t know what it was at first. Then I realized it was a heart monitor that a guy in the hospital was on. It’s been a long time since I heard anything like that.

Anyway, I got my hearing tested today at Costco. It did show a slight improvement in the lower frequencies. But it isn’t enough though. It’s disappointing.

Whereas I can see the PRP treatments did help a little, it might take a whole lot more injections for me. It would probably become cost prohibitive. Two weeks of treatment was not nearly enough.

It’s a downer. I wish it would have worked better.

Hey things still may continue to improve over the next two months...

Multiple treatments over the course of a year? Makes sense... that’s is one reason why it would be nice if Dr. Shim could weigh in on what he thinks is the most effective strategy.

Stay optimistic, you have seen some improvements... if you do go back, negotiate a discount for follow ups.

Sorry you felt disappointed, that sucks...

Don’t stay blue, stay strong, and hold off on the CI, other therapies may be available in two years.

      How is the word recognition?

      Big hug...

This is actually quite positive. It could mean that this and other methods of regrowing cells could help. It won't be long before there are a number of options for this style of treatment. Another thing is I damaged my arm years ago and was told nerve cells grow 1mm per month. So your hearing may improve over the next year as slow growing nerves get connected.

Thank you for your encouraging words. My Costco test showed a 5 db hearing improvement, but only on the lower frequencies, in both ears. High frequencies didn’t seem touched. It’s been 3 months. Maybe it is a step in the right direction.
It does show that PRP works. But to do this long term would leave one broke.

But I have some things working against me, that others may not:
      A) 65 years old
      B) 25 years+ of chronic loss
      C) very profound hearing loss

I will go to my usual audiologist in two more months for a hearing check.
The Costco person yesterday looked very closely, slowly, in both ears, and could not tell at all that anything went thru my eardrums.
They healed perfect and were normal.

Are you in contact with Dr. Shim on your 3 month results? Would he give you a "freebie"?

I suppose travel and lodging is quite expensive too.

I told Dr. Shim yesterday. He didn’t offer, but I might need a lot more than a freebie.

Yes, it is costly to get there. But also loss of income here, while I’m gone.
And it would be an excellent idea for my better half to go, to help me stay out of trouble.
Last time, I could have been denied boarding for not hearing loudspeaker instructions. That would have sucked.

It does not, unfortunately. 5 dB is within the "margin of error" of hearing tests. I'm sorry that it didn't work. I really wanted this to work for both you and @JohnAdams - but both of your results (I saw his pre/post) are underwhelming.

      Sorry...

Some days it does seem softer, other days, it does not. Sometimes it is noisier. I don’t let it bother me. It’s always there.
I have never had a day in my life that there was no tinnitus.
I can’t say Dr Shim did much for my tinnitus. But I’ve had it over 60 years.
I can’t imagine people that don’t have tinnitus.

Don't just up and go. I'm not so sure if my improvements are from using neurotrophics and curcumin, or this, or both.

I recommend first getting some 7,8 DHF powder and taking it sublingually 3 times a day and taking about 3 grams of curcumin at dinnertime. Try that for a few months and then get back to me.
