@Hamsti, stop worrying about events so far into the future, we can't predict how bad or good they'll be, so there's no point dwelling on them.

Always keep your focus on the problems in the now and near.

For all we know, by the time your daughter's 5, there'll be some drug that prevents acoustic trauma.

As for the problem at hand, I think you should do what @Stacken77 suggested and go and see an Audiologist/ENT about different Hearing Aids, that would better accommodate protecting your hearing when your daughter cries.

Don't worry about the cost. If there's a pair of hearing aids that will address your problem, then we can just set up a crowdfunding page and link it to TT.

I'm sure people here would love to be able to help you with this.

And I am soon to move back into my van, so I’ll be on the road again. T wise, not so great. Having a spike, & my H is playing up. Still, I’m getting on with life. How are you doing? X

Depends on the distance, the loudness and whether you had ear pro. If you don't experience any pain, dull hearing or worsening, that's a good sign.

@Stacken77 I would recommend it. Been on it for little over a year now and no matter how intrusive and obnoxious the sound in my head is I always sleep through like a baby. It also helps you see the light at the end of the tunnel. If you decide to go with then don’t go over 15 mg. That’s when it starts losing its sedative properties

And though it may not seem like it, but time is on our side as we're on the cusp of many bio-medical and technological breakthroughs, such as Ebselen, new tDCS applications for tinnitus (at Regensburg university and at Antwerp Medical Hospital if you're interested), FX-322 trials that could take place in Europe in 2022 and Susan Shore's device could very well be commercialised in a year or two (fingers crossed!).

Mine also fluctuates. It's been 19 months already. For example, I can have 6 very silent days in a row and then 3 bad days and after that one day almost without any symptoms (like 1-2% of volume). Go figure it out))). I just hope it will go away completely after few years. The fact that I don't have any hearing loss gives me hope.

I'm going on 2.5 years. One day it's stable, one day it's loud, one day it's quiet, and other days it varies in loudness/sound by the hour. I'm not sold that any doctor can point at a specific time to a person's tinnitus onset and say it has reach a "chronic" state reliably.

''Results revealed a time-of-day-dependence of tinnitus. In particular, tinnitus was perceived as louder and more distressing during the night and early morning hours (from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m.) ''

''than during the upcoming day. Since previous studies suggested that stress (and stress-associated hormones) show a circadian rhythm and this might influence the time-of-day-dependence of tinnitus, we evaluated whether the described results change when statistically controlling for subjectively reported stress-levels''

The circadian rhythm aspect seems particularly relevant. I seem to have a "calm period" in the afternoons that I can't magically call in any other time of the day. It knows what time it is.

As everyone here, I tried to find the cause for my multitonal, severe tinnitus. It started as a low humming and after four weeks, it turned into a nightmare.
    I found:
    - my eardrums are wasted, also my middle ear
    - my inner ear is damaged
    - my hearing is bad, moderate hearing loss
    - I suffer from postnatal depression, and started to take Zoloft at the time, which could be a cause
    - they diagnosed CMD and neck issues

    So, well, I am fucked.
