From noise trauma. First got it in 2001, and a permanent increase after a bigger trauma in 2014. It's loud high Hz hiss, both in the head and a cocktail of flickering hisses in the ears. My hearing is pretty bad across the board too, 20+ db, down to 40-50 at its worst. Good times... :p

Subjective T can be caused by many things. About 95% of T is subjective and about 80% get some hearing loss caused by nerve and/or hair cell damage. Yes, head trauma or noise is often a cause.

I did HBOT. It didn't help me that much but I have noise induced T. If you have head trauma induced T HBOT should be more useful. It also has been used for concussion related syptoms like migraines etc.

Thank you for your detailed post. From what we can figure out it appears to have come from a form of head trauma but we are not 100% sure. He is being seen by an ENT but the exact cause is uncertain at the moment. Reading this site to try and fill in some of the gaps. Thanks for your links

not it doesn't my tinnitus was from acoustic trauma and I experienced it in my head. However it is unknown if tinnitus in the head is a different subtype from tinnitus in the ears.

@JadeNYC when the T is associated with some clear cause (like head trauma), there is a big chance of it going away, even after a long period of time. Hopefully, your T falls into that category.

Yes it's usually a perfect storm scenario of hearing loss and "something else" and resolving the something else also seems to help. The most common "something else" along with hearing loss is TMD/TMJ, cervical issues, trigeminal neuralgia, head trauma and stress.
