    Ear Plugs in the Shower

I have h, yet the sounds of a shower is the most soothing place of all. After a shower if I walk into a quiet room, my t seems far more stable, quite like my silence before onset, then slowly the static returns. Earplugs in a shower is taking it to the extreme imo, as far as I know when using...

Tinnitus Caused by Fluid Behind the Eardrum: Progress, Challenges, and Hope

Hello @Ben Ng, I do not believe a tooth issue could really cause tinnitus, but feel free to contact me about your healing journey. I think Prednisone did very little for me as well. Most cases improve or fully resolve with time, at least according to four doctors I have consulted. Acoustic...

If it were to have an effect, you would have felt it right away. Wonderful! You might want to carry foam earplugs (3M 1100 are great) with you everywhere you go.

The Underlying Cause — The Circulatory System?

No Bill, I think I'm not being clear enough. The ringing is no longer constant. It comes after taking my meds and if you did get what I was saying (I apologize if so) the ringing is barely noticeable. With or without plugs.

Is This Hyperacusis or Reactive Tinnitus? Help!

If you have a lot of sensitivity you will feel sound through the earplugs due to conduction. It is like talking with earplugs on, or chewing something crunchy with earplugs. Driving with earplugs is ok only if driving without them feels much worse, but it is not an ideal solution, specially if...

Tinnitus That Grows in Volume Throughout the Day — Anybody Else?

I notice now with my pulsing ear problem, if I lie my head on the pillow with my left side down on the pillow, it makes the throbbing sound lower in volume. I haven't tried ear plugs. I don't find wearing them comfortable. If the trick with the pillow didn't work then maybe I would try ear plugs.

Cannot Hear Tinnitus with In-Ear Noise Cancelling Bose QC20

Hello, I have had mild, high frequency tinnitus for about 8 months. I'm really confused by how I perceive it differently with two different kinds of noise cancelling devices. How to Accurately Check How Loud Your Tinnitus Is?

When you say 'plugging ears' does this mean with fingers or earplugs? Certainly using fingers to plug ears adds a lot of extra noise due to hearing the blood pulsating through your fingers (a loud rumbling noise normally). I find that putting on earmuffs is the best way of isolating the...

    Feel Pathetic — New Tone

Insomnia Post Tinnitus Habituation — Will My Normal Sleeping Patterns Come Back?

They were a necessity in my noisy college dorm room. I've now been using them for over a decade and can't shake the habit any more. :) Earplugs don't change the volume of the tinnitus. I hear it clearer, of course, but that's just because there's no external noise that would mask it. Also...

Hello All. Acquired Tinnitus Six Days Ago. Need Advice!

This argumentation is not correct. People with healthy hair cells (no damage) do not experience hyperacusis even if they live in a completely quiet room for the most time of their lifes. Yeah, basically it can be immediately inhibited by certain level of low sound, it requires different amount depending on how strong it is that day. You may not notice it on holiday at all for example due to outside sound or hotel A/C. Or people who live in NY definitely wouldn't even know if...

Plugging Your Ears with Fingers — What Happens to Your Tinnitus?

No, my T is loud all the time, but when it's quiet (i.e. ears plugged) it gets much louder and fills my head, same thing would happen in an anechoic chamber. It also reacts to loud noise and I just recently developed a new tone from moderately loud noise exposure while I had earplugs in.

That makes sense. I recently got a Shark vacuum refurbished for $60, and it's the quietest one I've ever had -- I still tend to use at least dubs 12db filters, but it's quiet enough that I doubt I need them. It helps that our house is solid wood beam construction (relatively poor sound...

Hello All. Acquired Tinnitus Six Days Ago. Need Advice!

The best earplugs/muffs only cut noise by 30db , a noisy street which is about 75 - 85db still gives you 45-55 db which is plenty enough to give the hair cells some exercise. Unless you wear plugs at home when its quiet there is no way to cut sound completely. The concept that you need...
