    I would recommend that you completely stop taking ibuprofen immediately. It's no good to the ears and could be possibly exacerbating your symptoms. Also I would check out: whooshers.com

    How often are you taking paracetamol and/or ibuprofen? It seems you need to be taking it quite frequently according this report (and assuming they've done their sums right).

    @Lane Thanks for the link. My symptoms were never as bad as what that patient reports. I haven't taken ibuprofen for years, and for months I've been loading up with vitamins and supplements for my tinnitus which has undoubtedly helped.

    You're probably in good shape for remission. Lucky! I'd be surprised if Ibuprofen had something to do with it though, unless you took large amounts for quite a long time.

    @Greg Sacramento yes I have with ibuprofen. Grasping at straws. Started working on gentle posterior digastric but believe it will be a process with that splints, physical therapy etc. @just1morething could be. I would be content with a good night sleep.

    The ibuprofen should be fine as well if you just take one 600mg dose. Just don't take repeated doses that high. Better to endure pain that'll go away then risk damaging hair cells.

    I know that. I don't take it on a regular basis. I take it really responsibly. 1-2 pills a 3 months. Only when my teeth get especially achy. I don't think this amount can do any harm.

    nsaids typically do not cause permanent tinnitus. They can raise it in the short term, but only temporarily. I experience this with all salicylicates (aspirin and similar), but it goes away. Ibuprofen and tylenol does nothing.

    My grandma developed (constant, high pitched, intrusive) tinnitus about 40 years ago after her doctor accidentally perforated her eardrum. She told me when she has spikes she takes ibuprofen because it brings them back down. Interesting.

    100 mg of ibuprofen is a very low dose. I don't think you are at any risk of ototoxicity from that, especially since you only use it for a few days. :) Taking 500 mg or 250 mg of paracetamol twice a month too is unlikely to damage your liver. You can use both paracetamol and ibuprofen together...

    Well Ibuprofen helps with both the pain and the inflammation. I can't think of any other medication that would be more 'safe' that would treat both. Maybe naproxen sodium, but it's in the same boat. It's probably safe.
