Resisting the temptation to take ibuprofen daily at this point...but worried about long term side-effects :S

I would think your chances are very low. Getting tinnitus from taking Ibuprofen is simply conjecture. Most tinnitus is caused by noise damage such as wearing headphones with the volume turned up too loud.

@Christophe_85 i take ibuprofen for migraines and don’t get any long term increased volumes. Sometimes a spike around the migraine, but this could be from th headache rather than the ibuprofen. Not basing these comments on anything medical, only my own experience

Yeah it is, and I agree to not take it. However I do believe it can be helpful if you only take it for a day or so to relieve pain. I just don't want OP to do what I (mistakenly) did by taking high doses for 10 days.

I'm having a terrible headache right know. Normally I take Ibuprofen for it, but I'm afraid about its ototoxicity. Does anyone have any axperience with the above mentioned drugs and tinnitus? Or if somebody is Eastern Europe based, can you suggest any alternative to Ibuprofen and Paracetamol...

...almost two weeks in Romania, mostly in Bucharest, which is a noisy city. Also, I've got a 18-month daughter, who's not the most quiet member of the family! My ears did not get much rest in between both flights. I tried to "damage control" the best I could with either Aspirin or Ibuprofen.

I've only used Voltaren in my arms and shoulder, no change in tinnitus. But I also don't experience spikes from ototoxic drugs like Ibuprofen.

Hi I have experience with codeine, paracetamol, and ibuprofen after T onset. None of them caused even a temporary spike. I think ibuprofen is potentially ototoxic, but for real risk of ototoxicity you need to be taking fairly high dosage regularly for at least a couple of weeks.

Ibuprofen can occasionally aggravate tinnitus, but it is usually just fine. If your tinnitus seems to be getting louder on the ibuprofen, just ask your doctor to switch you to another drug. The effects are temporary. I take it myself and have never had a problem. Dr. Stephen Nagler

I take both Ibuprofen and Paracetamol regularly. Neither have had an effect on my tinnitus. Aspirin, however can cause tinnitus - though I believe you only get tinnitus whilst taking it. If you stop, it apparently goes away.

I understood the whole point of not taking anything would be to let the fever try to fight the virus unless it is really high. Does it make any sense to you? Or do you think there is something that might make symptoms worse directly?

Hi Ben: See if you can go without the Aspirin. Paracetamol is less of a concern for short term use of 3 weeks. If really needed, take Ibuprofen. Since you are having surgery in mid October, ask your doctor if you can take Melatonin 10 mg for sleep. Your doctor may not want you using Melatonin...

Sorry, my mistake in sentence, both drugs aspirin (with salicylic acid) and ibuprofen could be bad for t. even to develop t in higher dosage. So almost all pain killer are harmful...beside Panadol as my pharmacist said (if I remember)....
