...but I'm sure that my pain is caused by noise because I can feel the stabbing pain in my ear as I hear noise, and then there's a delayed burning pain.
I've had severe noxacusis since January.
I tried to live normally in the beginning, but I realized it was simply not possible. After going...
...month ago I went to an audiologist and got tympanometry done. My ears instantly felt more full, but settled down a bit later. Two days later burning pain started in my left ear. It was constant but became worse when swallowing, when TTTS thumping occurred, and when talking and moving my neck...
...you're doing okay mentally. I feel like it's pretty much the same for me. I may be getting less stabbing pain but still getting aches and burning. Idk if this is a good sign? I also have a weird new tone that sounds like a star wars light saber that comes and goes in my bad ear but at this...
I have severe hyperacusis with LDLs below 40 decibels. And chronic burning pain in silence most of the time. I tried Rick Simpson Oil specifically to see if it would help with the burning pain. In my case it did not, but I am glad to have made the attempt.
Some food items are good for ears. Ginger, curcumin, garlic, onion, fresh fruit and vegetables, avocados, smoked salmon, dry fruits, sunflower seeds, etc...
This scream started my burning pain in the ear canals. It is non stop... I cant take it I cant... I only had pain behind the ears when talking. Now it burns 24/7
Man, I think this is fantastic news, there are not so many people with burning pain hyperacusis that healed!
I read many of your posts but I did not figure how long did you have the burning pain in your ear(s)?
May I ask if it was constant or if it lasted just for a small period of time after...
I hope so. And you're right, improvement isn't linear. (Easy to forget that, unfortunately.)
I think I might have actually experienced last year, and I also feared that it be M.S. It was mostly numbing of the limbs tho, and it went away over time.
I feel that itchiness lately, and all of that...
I'm sorry to reply so late, but thank you so much for your kind and reassuring words at the time. It did get better regarding fleeting tinnitus, but the unusual tone comes back once in a while and I'm now dealing with burning/sensitive ear...
It's improved massively. It peaked at around 2 months from onset at which point I would get burning pain in my left ear that radiated out into my face. I'm 8 months out now and doing MUCH better. My ear is still quite sensitive, but I only get temporary discomfort, facial tingling, and fullness...
If you know you have hidden hearing loss then I wouldn’t be surprised if OTO-413 helped you. Unless all forms of hyperacusis come down to the new maladaptive synapses that attach to OHCs after loud noise.
My tinnitus has spiked a lot and my healthier ear that usually is silent makes really high frequency constant sounds, my hyperacusis spiked and I have burning sensations in my ear. I have made a lot of progress and I regret taking risks like this with my hyperacusis.
@Vassili, congratulations for your recovery, reading a success story always helps our morale.
Maybe I missed it, but what was the cause of your tinnitus and hyperacusis? And did you have burning/stabbing pain in silence?
Thanks!
I really wish @jacob21 came and answered your questions...
My question to @jacob21 is: can you elaborate more on "kind of pain"? Did you ever have burning/stabbing sensation in your ear no matter how light/short lived?
@Johan_L Your ear pain originally happened only after being exposed to sounds? But a few months later you developed constant burning pain? Do you also have earache, like your ears have some sort of infection?
Your situation is almost identical to mine. At first I would only get pain after I...
Noise induced pain is going to cripple you if you do not cease from dangerous noise activities.
This isn't a joke, a damaged cochlea can leave you with permanent burning ear pain from sound.
I was at a family lunch yesterday, 7 adults and 2 children, and I couldn't cope with the noise.. My left ear felt extra sensitive, burning a bit, and I had to put an earplug to get through the day. I don't understand these bouts of noise sensitivity, but I guess I did what I had to by protecting...
Hi @AbeS -- Sorry to hear about your horrible situation. At a time when my ears were gradually getting worsening burning sensations, I did some self-acupuncture on my ears, and the burning dissipated almost entirely with one session. A couple of followup sessions eliminated it completely.
I...
...Now my LDLs are lower, like I can't tolerate anything over 50 dB without ear protection, which is what happened last time. I also had burning ears last time, and I have it again this time but it's going away.
And I can tolerate running water and low noises but everything else sounds louder...
Congrats for your improvements, this is great news!
How long did the pain last and what kind of pain was it (burning, stabbing, etc)?
Did you have pain also in silence?
Also, were you homebound? Could you drive, watch TV, speak on the phone?
Thanks.
in my day, that genre meant "Guns and Roses, Slayer, Metallica".
that's all classic rock now, have you heard what the kids are listening to these days? THEY'RE BURNING CHURCHES IN SCANDANAVIA
burning churches isn't safe at ANY volume
I still get the burning almost daily but it fluctuates rather than being there all day long. I thought I was doing better overall but my facial pain got significantly worse, loudness hyperacusis came back with a vengeance and my tinnitus is also at an all time high so I guess it was a trade off.
...gave me. NRR of 29, I would have preferred my Macks at NRR of 32 but wasn't allowed to wear them. But really I was more concerned with the contrast dye gadolinium. That made me sick/dizzy for the next few days, and I could feel it burning as they injected it. Apparently the stuff is pretty toxic.
Are you noticing any TTTS symptoms? Any fluttering, thumping, or itching in your ear? Burning is sometimes a symptom of trigeminal nerve sensitization that stems from middle ear involvement.
That’s great you have had so much progress! I am wondering if it was just gradual, consistent improvement over time, or more improvement in the beginning? And did you ever get a volume reduction of your tinnitus?
Sorry for all the questions, your symptoms just sound quite similar to mine and I...
You are a new case. Rest your ears, get silence and don’t take meds. Whatever you do, just don’t do TRT, lol.
Things will most definitely calm down but you do need to be patient.
Wish I had done this earlier but I kept making my noxacusis worse.
Sorry, that’s a crappy way to get noxacusis...
Hey man, question, what do you take for the pain? Do you recommend anything? I’ve been isolating myself but I still find myself with pain. It’s usually sharp stabbing pain or burning, or sometimes both.
How do you define mild hyperacusis?
it still means mild burning pain and facial aches around high pitch noises like a bird chirping, but lemme guess the mild burning pain isn't suppose to bother because of habituation?
I don't have that issue oddly. Just loud single tone tinnitus and extreme burning pain for me. My pain is fleeting at times but still annoying and becoming more easily triggered.
I am considering the treatment you just got but will probably choose to go to StemCells21 first. Might just do both.
...various symptoms. I wasn't sure exactly what to call it, but it might be a mild form of hyperacusis. Here are my current symptoms:
Slight burning in my ears, sometimes triggered by constant background noise. In the first month, laughter near my ear would cause instant pain, but that's no...
Too much - as this can cause:
Burning, numbness, prickling, "pin and needle" or tingling feelings, numbness of the feet, legs, arms, hands, and around mouth. Pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back or neck.
Burning pain feels like its burning like as if you burnt yourself. Maybe see another doctor and see what they say. I have gotten ear pain from clenching before due to my anxiety, so its not uncommon.
My nerve pain, ear pressure and burning ear pain are pretty much gone. I still have clicking / popping, but not as much. My nervous system is still highly sensitive and I still have tinnitus and hyperacusis. I think my hyperacusis and tinnitus are gradually getting a little better, but it can be...
