Thanks for the uplifting spirit. Been 3 days now and its still roaring in one of the ear :/ I seem to never manage to "keep calm" during these spikes and somehow subconcius get anxiety ridden over them. Think i should have learned after all these years! Yes overfocusing sure makes them worse!

...the nature of tinnitus @Sodlin Ups and downs. Dont let the downs get to you too much (easier said than done, I know), and they will usually be way more shortlived. That has been my experience. Hypervigilance and overfocusing on the spikes make them tenfolds worse. Remember, this too shall pass.

...last "panic attack" that i had phonophobia. Just remeber that i have it when i hear a "loud sound" actually cancels the panic mode for me to know that i just "use my brain wrong" and this have worked VERY well over this 2 past weeks and as a result from that i barely had any long lasting spikes.

I think you are doing yourself a big favour, not in a positive way, to assume instant spikes and thinking "worst case" with every incident. Its the constant fight of flight loop you need to break. Thats the first step to "healing" and moving forward.

Feeling this today as well. Some of these spikes are certainly intense enough to break through past resolve. I pray we find the physical and emotional energy to fight on. You are not alone friend. We deserve peace

My experiment without earmuffs wasn’t successful, I had crazy bouts of reactive tinnitus, but they subsided. I figured I need to do it gradually. But still, I’ve had tons of other spikes down the road and none of them were noise induced, my tinnitus is a pure chaos. How are you?

In my experience, extreme anxiety can absolutely cause tinnitus spikes and potentially new sounds, and they can also settle down and go away too, but it usually takes a while---potentially months even after the anxiety is gone. Things can absolutely get better, but you need to get your head...
