Yes, unfortunately this is how I developed a low humming Tinnitus on my right ear. I'd recommend seeing a ENT and possibly asking for some oral steroids and or steroid injection. Try your best to avoid coughing! Eat some garlic and take magnesium.

Tinnitus is unpredictable. It can improve, worsen, change pitch, etc. For some people even what they eat, the exercise they do, etc can have an impact on tinnitus.
